Congrats on the DVC membership! WELCOME HOME!!! Wishing you many happy years of WDW vacations!

Is there a story behind the purchase that we will learn about in your TR? I'm always curious to hear when the bug bit (it doesn't take much though, does it?!!! ) Wondering if you went knowing you were going to purchase, thought you'd check into it on this trip to see if it was feasible, OR just got caught up in the moment and went for it!!! You have now joined the many thousands of happy DVCers!

Thank you! I will be going over this a bit in my TR, but, we were pretty serious about purchasing when we headed down. I had mentioned it to DH and he latched onto the idea IMMEDIATLY. I had thought he was set on every other year at Disney - but turns out, he is wanting to go every year, espeically why we have small children that will enjoy it so much. I just love that man! Anyway, I didn't do much research on it all, I wanted to hear the presentation and be able to ask my 14,000 questions to the sales guy and we decided that if we had enough CASH for the down payment (we don't do CCs), it "felt right", and appeared to be a decent deal that we would go for it. All three of those things lined right up and we were sold!

It has been REALLY fun to see how we can make our points work. So far we have some ideas through 2012!

So, does this mean we will see pics of all the bathrooms at WDW, the plane and the baby puke!?

Thankfully, NO!!!

We too joined DVC last week and are looking forward to staying in Kidani Village, once it is completed. Where did you get that neat AKV icon? Mind if I copy it? Have you figured out the point system yet.....so much information!

CONGRATULATIONS to you!!! I think I have figured out the point system pretty well - it's just all the dates, like when can we start booking, when do we have to bank, etc. that I have to figure out.

Thank you!! It has been fun writing the TR so far-and really, it was such a crazy trip, it's entertaining for DH and I to re-live all the details as I write it. I am trying to push myself to get a good start on it before the holidays are upon us.

Congrats and WELCOME HOME to you too, Tig-girl! We've been members for 3 years and it's still as exciting and wonderful as the day we joined!! It's pretty easy to get the hang of points, banking, etc. It only gets complicated if you do add-ons that aren't the same home resort or same Use Year. Oh! You and Brookelizabeth need to add this new word to your vocabulary: ADD-ONITIS (yes, it WILL strike eventually!!!)

Add-Onitis! Uh...yea, I have already looked into how many points you can add, and DH and I have already discussed that day when we will add on. We've been members for a WEEK. But, we hope to get this one paid off, then buy more. I also want to do more reserach on the re-sellers and see if that's the route to go for more points.

The Use Year stuff is what confuses me so far. I can't keep track of the dates yet. Gotta either call our rep guy, or go over the paperwork again.

Quick question: We talked about whether the hotel decorations would be up by the time you left. Were they? We'd gotten sporadic reports that it looked like deocrations were going up sort of "late", in comparison to years past. I'm hoping you got to see the hotel decked out just before you left!

Oh, thank you for asking! We did NOT get to see the decorations go up at the WL. I had totally forgot about it until we were leaving. I was slightly bummed, but really, I loved WL so much that it didn't phase me too much. Maybe another time we will catch the magic transformation.

The decorations were up at DTD, MK (obviously) and Epcot by our last day. I have some pictures of it all, just gotta get them loaded into Photobucket still.

Brookelizabeth - congrats on the DVC purchase...we've only used it once and it's been one of the best decisions we ever made.

I LOVE hearing that. While we were talking and setting up our tour with a guy at DHS a woman popped in, looked square at my DH, and said "This is the best decision I have ever made." and then popped out. In the elevator at MCO on the way home, DH was holding our "Disney Vacation Club Member" bag (filled with delcious sweet treats from all over the World, btw), and a guy in the elevator said "DVC Members, huh?" "As of this trip!" I said back. "Ahhh, you just made a good decision. We've been members for 15 years, it's the ONLY way to go."

I've never heard a bad word about it.

Well, Brookelizabeth, I am very happy that you joined the DVD "cloob." I love the way it works. I loved it so much, I applied for a job, but the hours/days I couldn't do with my schedule as basically a single mom most weeks. But I do believe in DVC. It is a fantastic program. Heck, it seems to be the only real estate selling right now!

I don't and I have no clue who anyone is, but Phil and I were having a nice, quiet bite to eat at the Crews Cup at the YC Saturday night, and a guy came in with one of the plaid vest people (indicating a VIP). So, I said to my bud, Sheila, who is a server, "Okay, who is that?" Apparently, Michael Easton from some show (Days of our Lives?) was in there sitting at the next booth. He was kind of a hottie!

If anyone is on-line tonight, I am looking for a recommendation. One of my customers has decided to take his 2 teenage sons to WDW for their first trip next summer. They have been to DL before but not WDW.

Anyways, he is looking at AKL because I have talked about it but he also asks if there is another resort that teenage boys might prefer. What would your recommendation be? I would expect that he would want one of the deluxe resorts.

Teenage boys might want to be closer to the parks and more options, rather than the isolation of AKL (which is part of the beauty of it for us adults! ) My first thought was BWI because of the boardwalk -- used to be lots of activity there at night; plus ESPN. Or, BC (the pool!). Plus they can get to 2 parks very easily from either resort.

I always say Beach Club or Boardwalk because of their accessibility to Epcot and DHS and so much to do around the Boardwalk area. That's my take. Alternatively, The Swan/Dolphin has a great pool area. A bit edgier (sp?) than Disney. The pool with the cabanas more for teens/adults, etc; still accessible to Boardwalk area and the parks.
