Hey all...:goodvibes

Has anyone had a cake relatively recently at the Lodge? DS will be celebrating his 7th BD a week before we arrive at AKL and I'd really like to have a cake for him...

I know I've read somewhere through this thread about people having cakes, I don't know if anyone has gotten one recently though...

I remember seeing a really gorgeous tray that had cookies and chocolate animals but then read that it was no longer offered...& since he's a little guy a cake would be more special to him than a tray of zds-although I wouldn't say no to them...:thumbsup2

The Bakery at the Grand Floridian can do pretty much anything...but I don't know about AKL...

I'd want it delivered either to the room or the 2nd night we have a ressie at Jiko-and we could have it there only since we have the DDP-we'd be getting desert but since we'd be there it would be easy to take bake to the room...

suggestions? experiences?

I would love to know this too!

And here's what 30 bucks will get you!

....and thirty bucks WELL SPENT!;)

Can someone please clarify if a DVC member staying at AKV Jambo can use the pool at Kidani?

Also, is there a walkable path between the two?

Yes and Yes.

If you are staying DVC, you can use either buildings facilities (including pool, basketball court, bar-b-que area, etc over at Kidani), no matter which building you're staying in.

And yes, there is a walking path between the two. Reports are saying about 7 to 10 minutes from door to door.

...torsie, how are the wedding plans coming along??
Great thanks. :)

We've narrowed our reception location to 4 places now, so I'm excited to go see them all. :)

Eeeee, I keep dreaming about checking into AKL!! (Last night I dreamt I opened our curtains and there were 2 tigers on our balcony. :lmao:

Tracy -- I'm so sorry for your loss.

torsie -- good to see you!

WHoo-Hooo!!!!

I'm not-so-patiently waiting for mid/late December AP discounts to be released (notice my positive outlook that they WILL be released). I told my DH, that the minute I knew they were out, I'm calling for AKL!

That's a good idea -- I have been having a hard time getting any codes, AP or otherwise, to work at AKL (maybe b/c we want to stay CL, or maybe because AKL is so popular). Good luck!:)

...since you aren't staying at AKL, I suggest [save yer rotten tomatoes! :teeth:] S/D...we've stayed at the Dolphin twice and you absolutely cannot beat its location!! Room was wonderful and location was great!! Also, they have some fabulous offers and deals...

Hmm, not a bad idea...do they have regular Disney transportation? Can you use ME?

Leanne,
Oh no. An Epcot resort. What ever will we do?

<sarcastic!>

:lmao:

I would suggest two things:
1) As Kimmar mentioned S&W - they run rates often for military, teachers, etc.

or,

2) Rent points on the DVC board and stay at the Boardwalk Villas or the Beach Club Villas. Points run about $10 a point and you can get 4 people in a Studio, or in a 1 bedroom. Depending on your dates, you might be able to get quite a deal and have a very nice room for less than a hotel room!

Both good ideas - now that I think of it, one of my friends is a teacher so she could get a special rate for that...

Thanks for confirming this! I have read on trippies that you must take a bus from Jambo to a park and back :scared1:, even a CM told me this on the phone when I was making my ressies. I am glad to hear it is walkable,:yay:

...that doesn't even make sense...:confused3
[...well, at least you got the CORRECT info...:thumbsup2 ]

I have three questions for the AKL experts/lovers here:goodvibes

First off, we arrive at the AKL in 13 days  and would love to ship water down. We don't belong to Costco, so is Staples still a good option for this? How/when should we order the case of water, and what address should we use?

Second, we know that the weather will be hot and rainy, but we're still on the fence about a rental car. We have arranged DME and a rental, but we aren't sure which one to pick. We will only be there for four days. Will the heat, rain, and crowds be a lot to handle, or can we make do with Disney transportation withour too much discomfort? Anyone been there recently and used the buses that will share their transportation experiences?

Lastly, it will be just DH an I on our 20th anniversary trip, but we wound up in bunk room, pool view. Our TA did note a request a room without bunks, if possible. Should we bother to request a certain pool-view room location, or is that just asking too much? We just really tried to avoid a parking lot view when we originally booked.

TIA for any help!:flower3:

The park buses go Kidani then Jambo, BUT the DTD bus goes Jambo then Kidani. So you can also use that! :goodvibes
