Just returning home from a 4 day quick trip with DW. Stayed in Rafiki, room 7930. Nice savannah view studio. I was impressed with size of bathrooms over BWV(where we usually stay), better layout. The shower was great, incredible water pressure. We saw a few animals, zebras, kobes(look like buffalo with huge horns), the giraffes stayed outside the lobby viewing area so nothing up close. My only comparison within the Disney Villas is Boardwalk. So with that, and this is just my opinion, but AKL is too far away from everything. It took 90 minutes to get from AKL to Boardwalk by bus, cost $20 taxi fare one night after leaving Jellyrolls to get home. The food in AKL is unique, I wanted wings or nachos like you would find at ESPN club but nothing like that existed at AKL. Also noted that busses took longer due to distance to all parks. Also seemed that busses to Yacht/Beach, Boardwalk, swan/Dolphin were more abundant and ran more often than AKL. Maybe I am spoiled always staying at Boardwalk, but when I am spending about $50 a hour at Disney, I want to maximize my time. Again, nothing bad about the resort, everyone was friendly and helpful but not what this DVC'er prefers.

Wow, we where in Room7830 this past Fri. Sat. and Sun. the room right under yours. Your right about slow buses so we drove over to the Boardwalk to do dinner at Flying Fish on Sat. I'm pretty sure bus service at all Resorts was slow this week.

Everyone says that the buses are slower because akl is farther away from most parks but they do not share buses so I can't see how it could be any longer than with any other resort. We stayed at WL and the buses had to stop at Grand Floridian and the campground. Seems like the time would be the same

Where did you switch over on the buses? I have stayed at BWV several times and my only frustration is the bus time due to all the stops. First time we stayed at AKL I was so impressed with no stops going to the parks. Ride to MK was very fast and it was during a holiday.

90 minutes! Holy smokes that scares me!

There is no direct bus from AKL to BW so there must have been a change over in buses somewhere. It would be helpful if the OP would say where the change over was and how long the wait was at that stop.
