AKL Kadani - Did we make a mistake?

Mara is fine but I agree that it probabaly isn't someplace you want every day. I also prefer boring food and find the dining option very disappointing at Kidani. In fact, I switched my upcoming trip from Kidani in part due to that - not that OKW is must better.


Plan the majority of your meals away from Animal Kingdom Lodge-Kidani (unless you cook in your room). I always have a car so it's no big deal to me.

Other than that issue, I do love Kidani!!

The choices seem okay to me. We'll be staying there in July but we're staying at conceirge level so, I'm hoping it won't be an issue food wise.

I'm with TravelinJen24. I loved everthing about Kidani except for the food choices, in particular, the counter-service meals. I liked the diversity of the food (always up for something different) but Mara, which is the only CS location at AKL is in Jambo and that is not just a quick 5-minute walk, especially with small children. There was one evening where we just wanted quick sandwiches and it was more than an hour long process to get the whole family from Kidani to Jambo and back again, using the buses in this instance.

Having said all that, we really enjoyed everything else about Kidani and as long as you are prepared for the CS food issues, I don't see that you won't also enjoy your stay. The "feel" of the place was wonderful and exotic.
