Was assigned to a room in the Arusha Savanna in the Jambo House, far end of the Kudu Trail Guest Rooms. Absolute nothing!!! Did not see one animal on this side. I did manage to take a glimpse of the giraffe off the Sunset savanna on the way to my room. What a waste of points.

I sure hate to hear that as I was thinking of trying it someday. What times of the day were you looking? And how long did you hang out on the balcony waiting?

:grouphug:I'm sorry to read that. I've always been pleased with animal sightings when I've been on the Arusha savannah, and I've been way down the hall, too. As far as times go, I am a reader and a big user of the balcony, so I'm out there a lot.

One time I had a savannah view room way out there, and I, too, saw relatively few animals. To make matters worse, I had to walk a distance that seemed like forever to get to Mara. However, for me, it was only 2 nights so it was OK. However, last year I had a value studio that happened to overlook the sunset savannah and I saw so many animals. I laugh to myself about how I saw more "savannah" there than on my "savannah" view.

We also had a "savannah" view on that side of Arusha savannah last Sept. We saw hardly any animals. We could catch a glimpse of them on their way to their cages, as they walked on the road at the end of the savannah. We also could see the sunset savannah as we walked to our room, and it was always filled with animals by the watering hole. We stayed at Kidani last May with another "savannah" view, and saw the herd of buffalo, a buzzard, and the zebras run by one day - that was also on the Sunset Savannah. I am not giving up though - we are back at Kidani Village for a week in May. One day, we will end up with a savannah view room where we actually get to see some animals!

Time of day seems to be a big factor too.

Last year we were on Arusha and only saw animals in the afternoon and evenings.
This year we were on Sunset and only saw animals in the afternoon and evenings.
Both times we were happy with what we saw, but mornings were consistently empty. If you are the type to head to the park and only come back after sunset, a Savannah view is not for you!

I went out to the balcony both in the mornings around 9AM and in the evenings (after sun down) middle of Feb. On the day of my arrival, I hang out there from 5PM to 8PM, and NADA. Maybe they were hiding in the trees. Being on 5th floor is a bit high.

Well, I'm sure there are others who have seen many animals while there. We were about halfway up the Kudu trail for about 24 hours and we saw some animals, despite it being nearly at freezing temperatures.
