AKL in May question

We would like to visit AKL during our May trip. I have read you can walk out the back of the lobby at both Kidani and Jambo to see the animals. My question is... is there a time of day that would be best (most animals active)? I am guessing early morning since it will likely get hot later in the day.

I would say you can see them best in the morning when they're having their breakfast and you can also check them out at night with the night time binoculars!

We really liked the flamingos next to the Jambo House pool they are comical as they make their mud nests. Check with a cast member for the feeding schedule for best viewing times.

I was just there in December (warm December) and the animals roam around regularly. Early morning would be good, but I noticed they were very active in the late afternoon/early evening.

We've stayed there several times and for us the animals were the most entertaining in the early evening. They were more active at that time, and one evening the red river hogs started to tear up the ground looking for something. They put on quite a show.

A warning: when I have stayed in the AKL, I have noticed that the animals wander back to the barn (for feeding most likely) around check-out time. I have assumed that the resort is trying to kick me out and is concerned that saying goodbye to my giraffes will cause me to delay my check-out process... ;-p
