AKL in Dec - I have a few questions

Hi all-

After much debate prior to receiving "the email" and then once receiving the email we are going to be at AKL (Savanna view standard) 12/18-12/23. I am sooo excited. Our plans are to not tell my DS (5 years old) until the day that we leave, when we wake him up to get on the plane, that Santa came a week early with a big surprise!

With the email discount we got a rate of $141 - did we get a good deal or do you think that the AP rates will be better?

Anyway...we are booked in a Savanna view standard room with the king bed and a day bed. Has anybody else stayed in this type of room and did it work out ok for them?

In regards to room location I requested the Zebra looking into the circle, but close to the lobby. I have read and understand it can get to be pretty far away if you are on the ends. Does anybody have any further hints to get an awesome view?

Since we are going in December I was wondering if anybody has ever done any swimming at that time of the year? Is the pool heated? As I recall Orlando is cool in the morning and the evening, but could get into the high 60s, low 70s during the day.

Also any other info that you could share would be much appreciated. I can't wait and it makes it all the more exciting to plan!!!

We are also staying at AKL for the first two nights of our stay. We requested 3rd floor near the lobby. We were told that third floor is a great location... not too far up nor too far down. Also near the lobby so we are not too far away.
We have the AAA discount ( no e-mail here ) for November15-17
and with tax included it is much higher than your rate so I think you got a very good rate.
send some pixy dust our way for an e-mail or SOME kind of extra discount!!!!

Is the $151 a night inc. taxes? If it is then it is an outstanding rate for a savanna view room. You are 100% that you booked a savanna view room? I have never seen a rate that low for a savanna view.

No - unfortunately it doesn't include taxes. I think with tax it came out to $168.40 per night. Is that still a good deal?

And yes, we have a confirmed Savanna view.

With you taxes ... we are still paying almost 100 more than you a night with the AAA discount.

Yes! $168 a night inc taxes for a savanna view room is a great rate. I would request a view of the "Arusha Savanna" and enjoy the stay.

We travel to WDW every December. We always pack for winter, summer, spring and fall. We have seen 85 degree days and we have seen 30 degree days. Just be prepared for anything!

When the days were in the 80s, we did swim.
