I would definitely try it for the one night. Get up just before 7a.m and watch the workers bringing in the food to put up in the trees for the giraffes, and on the ground for the ground feeders. The giraffes are so funny. They actually try to take their food right out of the back of the pickup trucks with the worker in the back. We saw the one fellow actually hugging the giraffe.
Also use the afternoon to swim etc. as most of the animals go back for a rest, and more workers come and fix up the savannah while the animals are gone for a couple of hours.
We loved the animal kingdom lodge, the lodge itself is worth checking out. Check the different animal viewing areas, as there are different animals on the various savannahs. We also enjoyed chatting out back with the students from South Africa.
We did a split akl and poly for our 25th ann. I had three nights booked at akl and I was so hooked that I had to add another night before we went to the poly. Then when I got to the poly I completey cancelled my universal stay, and extended my poly stay, cause the poly was sooo relaxing.
We love them both, as well as port orleans riverside.
Have fun,
Deb.
