Question: Are ALL the fifth floor rooms in AKL deluxe rooms? If not, does anyone know which ones are and which aren't?

They are all deluxe/concierge, as they are larger than the rooms on lower floors.

OK let's raise the stakes a little. We stayed 3 nights at AKL in 2002, after a 5-night stay at BCV. We had a savannah view room on the 5th floor, 5134 on the Ostrich trail facing the Sunset Savannah. When we checked in there was no mention of an upgrade, and I don't remember a daybed in the room, just 2 queens (But I'm not absolutely sure there wasn't a daybed.) The room seemed so small after our 1BR suite at BCV that it's hard to believe it was a deluxe. But if it was, I want to know that we had an upgrade, even if it's 2 years later! Anyone else?

can I help clarify? I'm not sure if this is the kind of deluxe you are referring to.

1st off, we love AKL but yes, the rooms are quite small in the square footage catagory compared to the other deluxe resorts!

The outside of the bathroom double sink/vanity area makes life much easier for a group getting ready for a busy day so I don't really mind giving up some "living space" for it.

The rooms that they call "deluxe" are called that because they are a few square feet larger than most of the rooms in the hotel.

The "deluxes" that sleep 5 guests consist of 1 queen, 1 bunkbed set and 1 couch that flips to become a twin bed. It is priced differently that a "regular" room is and is not available at the standard rack rates that are such a bargain at this resort.
There are quite a few on the 5th floor and a few on other floors but the number of them is limited. When they are gone thery are gone. We have a dickens of a time getting one of these!

the WL offers a few rooms that can acomodate a family of 5 but there, they are called " Jr. Suites" and it has 2 queen beds and a queen pull out couch in a small living room. These rooms also are equipped with 2 TV's a micro. frige and mini wetbar and they too are priced higher than a reg. room. I think the rack rate for them run $465-485/nt. in reg. season.
hope some of this helps,
stacilee

Some of the deluxe rooms do not have the bunks. They have 2 queens and the daybed. I am staying concierge with a family of 5 and have been told the bunks are not a quarantee, but only a request.

Last time we had a 5th floor concierge room with 2 Queens, no day bed. All concierge rooms are at least deluxe. Definitely preferred the deluxe King room with day bed, it seemed much larger (although in NO way compares to DVC 1-br.)

Yes, all the rooms on the 5th floor are deluxe rooms, or suites.

The deluxe rooms are all the same square footage - with a larger balcony than those on the lower floors. They do have 3 different bed configurations: 2 queens, 1 king w/daybed, or 1 queen, bunkbeds & daybed.

While the 5th floor rooms are all deluxe - they are not all concierge rooms. You can get a deluxe room without the concierge service (but why would you want to??????)

So they don't have a 2Q + 1 daybed room? If that is the case then, YEAH! We will definately end up with the bunks because they wouldn't put us the other configurations b/c they don't sleep 5.

I couldn't stand it anymore so I called AKL and asked them directly.
I was told that NOT all rooms on the 5th floor are deluxe rooms.
In particular the one we stayed in, 5134, is a standard size (savannah view) room.

Of course it would not be the first time a DIS poster had known more than a CM, but I'm pretty sure she was right. So now the question is WHICH rooms on the 5th floor are deluxe?

We were in a regular room that was a concierge room on the 5th floor. It had two queens, no daybed. View was great and it was just DH and myself, so we were fine.
