I read in a brochure that AKL offers a "program" for children ages 4-12 that starts at 4:30pm. Does anyone know what this entails? What's the cost? How long does it last?

They are referring to Simba'a CubHouse. My son loves going there! The cost is $10 per hour. It is a well supervised children's program. there are lots of toys, a view of the animals, arts and crafts, disney movies, video games and if you get there before 8 pm dinner is also included (typical kid's menu that you choose in advance). at around 9 they have brought out milk and cookies and at 10 things quiet down, mats come out and the kids vote on a movie to watch. I believe that they close at 12. We have been there countless times and have always been very happy with the CMs in charge. When you sign in they give you a beeper and they do not mind if you call to check on the kids. You can make a PS for the kid's clubs as you would for dinner. There is a limit to the number of children they accept at one time. :goodvibes

Wow! This sounds sort of like "Parent's Night Out" at our daycare. So, you think it's really safe to leave your child there and maybe take a few hours at a club or something? This sounds pretty good! My 7 year old would love it!

Most, if not all of the deluxe resorts have a kid's club. In addition to Simba's Cub House at AKL, my DS7 has been to the Neverland CLub (PR), Mousketeer Club (Contemporary), Cub's Den (WL) and SandCastle CLub (BC). We did not like the Mouseketeer Club at the GF (too small). The Neverland Club is much bigger and has a buffet dinner for the kids. We usually make a reservation for DS at the club closest to where we are going that night for dinner. We have always felt very secure leaving DS there. The entrances/exits are secure and you get the pager in case of an emergency. ALso you need the receipt and pager to pick up your child. SInce AKL is our favorite resort he gets to go to SImba's a lot and it is his favorite. You can make a PS for your child at the kid's clubs even if you are staying off site. :)

My kids (now 6 & 10) have been there and to The Neverland Club at the Polynesian and they love them both! Disney does daycare great and you will probably have a hard time getting your child to leave. :)

DH & I left them at Simba's when we wanted to try Boma's alone. Very nice.
