As DVC guests renting points we stayed at the WL and BC last year - LOVED THEM BOTH! We are a family of four including two six year olds and while planning this years trip the Animal Kingdom Lodge looks like an experience not to be missed. BUT - there are so many choices - View - value, standard, savannah. Rooms - studio vs. 1 bedroom. We are hoping to stay three nights mid January and looking for suggestions - should we splurge on the 1 bedroom and forget about worrying about the view or is the money better spent upgrading the view and not worrying about being crowed. Any experience with a DVC Value 1 bedroom or Standard/Savannah Studio ? It could be cold in January and from what I hear the animals will not be spotted as frequently in cold weather - something to consider.
ANY HELP is greatly greatly appreciated.

get the one bedroom..parents need space too

far as views
I was told this week
value means you could be anywhere with any view, but the room itself is a tad smaller than the standards

course savanna view is looking at animals

I opted for a split stay 3 days sv and 4 days value...hopefully the best of both worlds

THANKS - I knew I wanted to get the 1 bedroom - being twice the price I just needed to hear it was worth it.
We split our stay last year - and although I did not like packing up and moving - it was so great to be able to check out two resorts. One other perk - since it was two reservations we were on the meal plan for the first two days only. Still in Disney for the third day - and we were able to finish using all the meals during the third day. Otherwise it just gets to be too much food. If you split your stay in the same resort - I am wondering if it would work the same way ?

yes..it counts as 2 different ressies, so you can do just as you said. We will be doing that as well

Actually, the animals prefer the cooler weather and you will likely see them more. And, they will go where the food is no matter what. But, there are plenty of viewing opportunities throughout the resort so you won't miss them.

Sharon,
I see you have many AKL stays!!!! My current plan is to see if we can get a 1 bedroom Value for two nights and a Studio Savannah for two nights. If we are lucky the Value will be a pool view and not a parking lot. I talked to someone at the AKL yesterday who said 90% of the value rooms were pool view - but looking at the map I am not sure that is possible so I will cross my fingers.
Wou7ld you suggest anything different ?

Keep in mind the value rooms can be a savannah view as well. Not sure about the 1BR, but most 2BR value rooms are savannah view or pool view. So it is not unreasonable that you may have a savannah view the whole time.:thumbsup2

Count my lucky stars - we were able to get a 1 bedroom value at AKL for three nights during the time period we were looking for.
Thank you everyone who posted with information. We can't wait!!!!

DVD is still building AKV - so it does not have the pass experience that the other DVC resorts have.

but so far no complaints.

seems like all the standard room are swimming pool - no parking yet!

LisaS on the DVC forum is the expert.
