AKL/DLR DVC as reported by Mouseplanet

I want DL DVC :)
I think WDW has enough right now especially with SSR still building.
Altho as for rumors, when we were in AKL this sept a couple CMs told me that they're currently building DVC rooms on the resort... then again, who knows

Not sure that I am understanding all of this. Anaheim has no where to build a new resort at this moment, but of course we all know how secretive Disney is about buying land and plans for the future, but when we were then in August and bought into SSR, our guide even mentioned that of course at this time there is no where to build at DL.

This is all very interesting to me. But still glad that we bought at SSR. Don't think I would be interested in DL.

There is room for an extension to the GC. It would come off the south end of the south-west wing in the form of a T. It would cover what is essentially now a parking lot and some lawn.

Not saying this is going to happen, but it is an option, considering that there have been rumors of the GC being expanded to include DVC.

This would also work as a short term option. The long term option, for a larger DVC presence, may come when they demolish the DLH.

All I can say is...

...it's TIME FOR A DISNEYLAND DVC! I'M READY TO BUY! :cool1: (and so is my husband at the moment, so get to building it already before he changes his mind! :( )

Before we were all convinced North Wing of the Contemporary was going to be converted to DVC an alternate rumor had Disney using the Contemporary for more convention business.

Disney may be having trouble renting the old rooms. It may be faster and easier to close the wing to guests while doing the renovation.

I don't know how much money the renovation will cost. They may just do a cheap renovation while keeping the plans for the future.

I'm sure Disney has architectural plans for many buildings that never get built. Disney must have had detailed plans for Eagle Pines.

We still don't know if the Contemporary DVC will be built. We may have put far too much credibility when we saw the plans. I suspect many of the CMs who were "confirming" the DVC rumor got their information from the internet. One of us told a CM the rumor and the same CM confirmed the rumor when the next guest asked.

"Using the current timeline WDI is working with, all of these additions and DCA remodeling would be completed by 2010, just in time to relaunch and rebrand DCA for its 10th Anniversary in 2011. The plan calls for even more for the Resort outside the DCA boundaries, including Disney's first attempt at a trendy boutique hotel which would be built near Tower of Terror (in the Timon parking lot) and accessed off of Harbor Blvd. And of course there are the plans for Anaheim's first Disney Vacation Club (DVC) property and perhaps the removal of the Paradise Pier hotel, with a demolition of the current Disneyland Hotel coming soon after." miceage

Did we also mention that John Lasseter favors rerouting the Disneyland Monorail system to the south around the entire DCA property so that it can connect with the new hotels and act more like the monorail system at Tokyo Disney Resort? Well, that's exactly what they've got cooking in Glendale, and things are looking favorable that this master plan for Anaheim will be approved.

I'd buy AKL DVC in the blink of an eye.

I told hubby and told him to get get out the checkbook - of course he was watching baseball playoffs :happytv: and he just said "yes dear - anything you want dear" :rotfl2:

Lasseter, Lasseter, Lasseter :cheer2:
It befuddles be that they didn't put a monorail station in the Grand Californian. Sure, it's very close to Disneyland but the monorail goes right through it! At Disneyland and WDW, the monorail is completely overlooked. It's like they are completely afraid of expanding it.
That also goes for the People Mover, It would be awesome to run it to the mondo parking garage rather than still more lame trams.

I read somewhere that the reason AKL is "first in line" for a DVC addition in Florida is that they couldn't complete enough rooms at CR before SSR is sold out. Makes sense to me, based on that drawing of what the CRV could look like (you know, that Pac-Man-ish thing ;) )

We're staying at AKL concierge in March and I recieved email today from the planing office. I had asked about construction. This is what they said ...

"There has been no announcement of renovations at the resort."

I read this as "we will neither confirm nor deny" :goodvibes

That would be the Disney version of a non-denial denial. :rolleyes1

Yup ... since we already know those work permit things were issued ... ;)
