AKL dining?

i know theres quality sitdown, but what about QS& Refillable mugs?

There is currently nothing available on the Jambo side. At Kidani, Sanaa is QS for breakfast. The Maji pool bar has QS lunch/dinner. You can refill mugs at Maji and the Kidani store which is in the lobby.

The Mara at AKL Jambo is my favorite Disney resort quick service, but I don't know if it's open right now.
It's not - only the places listed above are open on the Kidani side - nothing at Jambo. It' s actually a bit confusing as to why they wouldn't open The Mara at this time - seems like a better option than the pool bar. There's even outdoor tables and seating they could take advantage of at Mara.

only the DVC accommodations at Jambo are open, so I’m not sure if there are enough guests to open Mara. I would also guess that they don’t want to encourage people who are not staying at Jambo to come there.

Yea, that makes sense. Just parts of the AKL plan that could be done better - a shame to shut down the side with most of the food options for guests. But the DVC room decision hinders that, I suppose.

But instead you are forcing those at Jambo to go elsewhere.

Well, technically, they closed everything :) then reopened just DVC.

But does it make sense to.open even one restaurant (staffing, food, utilities) for, at most 82 units which each already contain some kind of cooking facilities? You'd probably have to require all Jambo DVC members to eat (or at least pay for) every meal at the resort to have it make financial sense. And you know how well (not!) that would go over.

The point was not about finical considerations, was about movement of people between resorts.

Now I am sure if Mara was open, guest at Kidani would like that since the only QS option at the resort is the pool bar with very limited options, so they would be in operation for more than just 82 units. I understand it is a business and i am sure there is more that goes into the decision. From a business standpoint, I have no problem with it being closed.

That is true. I suppose it’s a decision between inconveniencing the few people that are staying at Jambo and having far more guests than you want coming over there. My cousin and her family were there a couple of weeks ago, and it really was empty. A couple of CMs upfront to help with baggage, a few lifeguards, a couple of housekeepers, a manager to help with any check-in issues, and that was it.

Since they have been really clear about the lack of amenities open at Jambo right now, I think the people who stay there must really be aware of that and are OK with there being no open dining.

We were moved from AoA to kidani! I'm hoping there will be some type of QS or spot to get refillable mugs, but idk just playing this by ear

I think everything is open at Kidani. As it is all DVC, unlike Jambo, there are more guests. The Maji pool bar is open for QS, although the menu is a little limited just now. You can refill mugs there and in the store in the lobby. The store also has some food for purchase, although again a little more limited than usual. Sanaa, the sit down restaurant is QS for breakfast and their banana bread is very good! There is not the same QS variety as there is at AoA, but Kidani is a beautiful resort and after all you cannot see giraffes and zebras out of your window at AoA!

So the pool is open at Jambo now? Can Kidani guests still use it?

Probably a stupid question, but I know nothing about AKL. Staying in Jambo for a 2 nights, I'm sure some of it depends on exact room, but is it a long walk from Jambo over to Sanaa?

from lobby to lobby it’s about a 10 minute walk. If mobility is a concern for you or anyone in your party there is also a shuttle that runs between the two resorts.

No problems on that front, was just curious.

We have a 740pm res at Sanaa, so will have plenty of time after we leave AK and get back to room
