We just returned from AKL (July 1-7) and I know many are concerned about the construction. We were on the 4th floor Kudu Trail 4031 and heard nothing from our room. We did see some construction going on through the savanna viewing area overlooking the Sunset Savanna on the 5th floor when we would go up to the Kilimanjaro Club. If your room faces the Sunset Savanna and you're on the 4th floor, you'll definitely see something going on.

We heard some sawing while walking through the lobby one day. People were milling about the lobby and the noise didn't seem to bother anyone.

We also saw that they were closing most of the 5th floor off on the Kudu trail on the day we were leaving. Below are a few pictures of what we saw.

All in all, our stay was fabulous and construction on the 5th floor wasn't bothering us one bit. I would advise anyone going, though, to call and find out what the status is if they're worried about it.

As far as the outside construction goes, this was the view from the 5th floor looking out toward the Sunset Savanna. You would also see some of this from the 4th floor, but I don't know that you'd see it from the 2nd or 3rd floor rooms.

I used my zoom on my camera, so the pictures make it all appear a bit closer than it really is. The 3rd picture down gives you a better idea of how far away it is.

This was a sign posted on the 5th floor by the elevator.

This was a big brown wall they put up to block off the 5th floor where construction was beginning.

Thanks for posting your pictures. So fun to see!:thumbsup2

Thanksfor the post good to see what is going on there. did you find it ok with the construction? or did it not bother you? were there still lots of animals?

We are going 12th-24th Aug so any info would be great

Thanks for the pics! I will be there Aug.21-23. No call yet. Hoping one will not come!

Thanks for the pics DisneyBee!

The one thing I notice from your pics is how close the construction of Kidani Village is to Jambo House. I believe a lot of DVCers on this board were concerned about the walk between the two buildings. Still just speculation, but it may not be that bad.

raterfly - yes, we saw lots of animals. They don't seem to be bothered by the construction at all. They would also stand in the pouring rain during thunderstorms as well, so it appears that not much at all would bother them. The zebras did get a little wacky during the storms and would run in circles.

Our view was of the Arusha Savanna totally away from the construction and we didn't see or hear anything other than the pictures I posted, and that was only because we passed by the sunset savannah viewing area on the way to the club each day. We heard sawing once while passing through the lobby, but that was it.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!
