Sunset Safari also is for only eight guests and goes thru the
AKL "savannah" as part of it's tour.

And a meal at Jiko's with wine pairings.

We've done the Sunrise Safari twice, and it was awesome to see the animals as they are "waking up" for a new day at AK Park!

And the tours are not near as rushed as the Kilamanjaro safari.

Call AKL Concierge ASAP! Your trip is in 40 or 50 days, it sounds like and that is just around the corner!! You may already be shut out of the Sunrise Safari Hope not! You will undoubtedly not get the packet at this point. I booked my October '03 concierge stay in Aug. and never received a packet - they just did it all over the phone. Be aggressive in calling and leaving a message with your name and phone number and reservation number and that will get the ball rolling. Don't delay, though. You can make your room requests, PS requests, any gifts you'd like to have waiting in your room, any tours you'd like to book, etc. They are a great resource! Enjoy!

Do you think it's too early to email? Or wait until about 120 days out. I have received one packet so far, it was just a welcome letter and some maps, not from conceirge.

Doesn't everyone wish you could get answers to questions in other areas of your life, as quickly and accurately as here on the Dis??

Oh, so true! The Dis is a wonderful community, filled with such helpful friends.

I was on the very first Sunrise Safari a few years ago. I have a few photos posted of it (click here). I am now booked on the Sunset Safari (the Wanyama Safari) and I can't wait to attend it. As BambiTamby has mentioned, I have already ridden in the safari vehicle that the AKL is using for the Sunset Safari (click here), so I know what to expect as far as the ride goes. But I am just chomping at the bit about the rest of the event. I have read Stinkerbelle's and others' reviews of it and they have me so excited.

For those of you who are future AKL concierge guests, I hope you have wonderful stays at that resort. They really have a topnotch organization over there. I adore the AKL and all of my stays there have been flawless. As a matter of fact, my favorite Disney CM resides at the AKL. My family can’t wait to see him again, and the rest of the AKL staff (both concierge and non-concierge).

Call them!!!! We recently stayed concierge, never heard from them, no big deal we had simple plans.

There was a problem when we arrived, it was quickly straightened out by this wonderful staff. Had I called ahead all the stress could have been avoided. The last thing you want or need is a problem after traveling. Your tired and just want to unwind.

Call ahead, it doesn't hurt to double check.

My DH really, really wants to go on the Sunrise Safari on our next vist, but alas it is not on a day we are planning on being there!

I was wondering how the Grand Gathering Safari would compare to the Sunrise Safari?? It sounded similar, although not being in the morning could limit the animal viewing. I realize you need 8 but another family may be going as well. This would also save some $$ on the hotel room.
