OK.... So Where Are the Rooms for the AKL Concierge???

From reading the AKL posts and looking at the AKL Map I have concluded the following information....

PLEASE tell me if this is correct!!!!!!!!

There are 55 Concierge rooms.
All Concierge rooms are on the 5&6 floors.
All 6th floor rooms are Concierge.
The Concierge lounge is on the 6th floor.
The 6th floor can only be accessed with a Concierge key.
All concierge rooms are deluxe in size, but with various bedding and views.

THis is where things get uncertain...

There are a few pool view rooms on the 6th floor.
The pool view rooms are smoking optional.
There are 3 pool view rooms (from looking at the map).
The only other rooms on the 6th floor are Sunset Savannah rooms (from map)
There are 5(?) 6th floor Sunset Sav. Rooms (from map)
The rest of the 47 Concierge rooms must be on the 5th floor.

Does this all sound correct??

My questions are...
Are the only non-Savannah Concierge rooms the 3 on the 6th floor??
Where are the 5th floor rooms located???
Are they all Savannah view??? Which Savannahs??
Are there particular rooms set aside for Concierge or are you placed in a Deluxe room and have Concierge privileges??

Anyone know these answers??

I'm trying to decide if we should do the concierge or not. (my husband want to do the safari) If I'm paying this much I want to have a savannah view!!!!! It would be nice to have an idea of where we would be located.

Thanks so much for any help!!!

Wow that's some research, lol. I like the way you think!
I also have some difficulty planning an AKL visit, since you can't be sure of savanna view in concierge, and we have to have concierge to do the safari. I hope someone can help here to figure this out. The last best thing I could figure out was that all one bedroom suites would have savanna view, and concierge privileges, so we might book one of these instead.
You know, I would guess that there would be a whole side of the hallway on the fifth floor that was concierge pool view. However, I don't recall seeing any posts where people came back from concierge and complained that they had pool view. Maybe there are only the three rooms you mentioned....?

I have heard that a private VIP safari can be arranged. I am thinking of looking into that someday if we can't get the concierge rooms figured out. Why won't they sell me the view I want? Guess this is one of the reasons why I end up at the Polynesian concierge every time, since I can have my lagoon view guaranteed.

i would love to hear any responses to this also. I have a concierge room booked for Feb. & I was just going to ask what everyone thought that I should 'request.' Yes..I know there are no guarantees, but I was also hoping for the best room location to view the animals. Nothing else really matters to me. I just want the best view of the animals. I don't mind a long walk to the lounge, pool, lobby, or elevators. It's all about the view of the animals for me. :)

I'm not sure how much help I can be but we just got back from AKL concierge. We were on the 5th floor because we wanted a better view. From what I understand, the 6th floor views are obstructed a bit from the roofs of the 5th floor.

As you know, the resort is shaped like a horseshoe, we were on the right hand side, about 1/2 way down the LONG hallway. We were in a good spot next to the second set of elevators that are used to bring you to the pool area. We had a view of Arusha savannah and thought it was nice.

I loved this resort but if we go back, we are going to skip concierge and get a room on a lower floor. It seems that the lower you are, the better the views of the animals as you don't have tree tops blocking the animals (just my opinion though).

Good luck with your decision and I'm impressed with all the research you found out. You may want to email them to find out more answers to your questions:

Thanks for the responses..

I was very concerned about getting a non-savannah view room with concierge. That's what started me on this quest. I was very suprised when I looked at the resort map. I expected to see a whole 6th floor on there!! I looked and looked for about 10 min!! I finally saw the two sets of rooms on either side of the lobby; 3 pool views and 5 sunset savannahs. I couldn't believe this was it. 8 rooms on the 6th floor. If these 3 pool view rooms were the only ones, chances would be good. Although the sunset savannah rooms on the 6th didn't look that great. You could see the roof the overlooked on the fifth floor.

So far I have not heard of any 5th floor concierge pool view. I have seen reports from hallways on both sides of the lobby (zebra trail and kudo trail).

Anyone else stay AKL concierge??

After reading my post again, I realized I was letting my true geek nature come out for all to see. I really get obsessive about these things. LOL

I am going to email the AKL concierge and see if they will answer the question about room placement. I'll update if they answer.

But in the meantime... if you stayed in the concierg... let me know your room location!!

We just returned and had room 5305. Had a great view of the animals. if you go out to the main viewing area in front of the lobby? sorry the name of it escapes me:rolleyes: Arusha rock? Anyway if you were on the rock looking away from the hotel, now look to the left. Those 5th floor rooms are what we had club level last time. All 3 of our rooms were in the same section. There was activity there, However I have to be honest with you. I have had a better view in a regular savannah view. I prefer the view of JUST the animals not the people on Arusha rock. It kind of destroyed the magic of being in the middle of no where for me. It was fairly close to the lounge. Over the rope bridge to the left not to far down that hallway.
Chamoix... If you can swing it, The 1 bedroom suite was simply the best vacation I have ever had. The room was fabulous. The room had a porch much larger than a balcony. It had a full size round table that seated 5. We ate our breakfast out there every morning. With a beautiful thatched roof. You could easily fit 15 people out there and be comfortable. I skipped a paid for e-ride one evening and just sat and relaxed. There were no people distractions. A great view. One evening as we sat and it was all misty, about 6 girraffes seemed to just come out of the mist like magic. It was simply the best , most relaxing time We have ever had. good Luck!

twinmomplus2, we had the one bedroom suite booked for early December, but the Sunrise Safari was full, so we just cancelled the suite and stayed at the Poly lagoon view concierge the whole week instead. Just this morning I tried to book AKL again, but no concierge was available for our dates. I asked her to check the suites again, but she said they weren't appearing on her screen. I wonder if that meant no suites were available, or just none on the AP code screen...? Hmm, now I'm thinking I might call again...I do really want one of those suites, they sound great! Thanks for the information! :)

I did not think there were any Ap rates for the suites. If you find out otherwise can you pm me. Do not lose heart. I tried several times for AKl concierge to add rooms to our ressie. And by the end of a month I was able to book everything we needed. Take heart. i called got a confused CM who said no availability, hung up called right back and there was availabiltity.

No, you're right, as far as I know, they do not offer code rates for suites. That is why I am wondering if she didn't check for availability in the suites on the "regular" screen. Hmmm. I better call back. Although she was very good and efficient, I know it seems I get many different answers when I talk to different CMs on the phone.

We stayed there Dec 4-7 before moving to the GF. We were on the 6th floor by choice near the lounge on the savannah side. 6th floor has the least amount of rooms just because of the way the hotel is shaped.

It is true about the 6th floor and the view. The roofs get in the way - hard to describe but true.

I have heard of people booking concierge but requested to stay on the 3rd floor savannah view and did. There is a whole big thread on these boards about room locations and everything else.

We loved looking at the animals off of our balcony and were glad we tried this out. The lounge is one of the best and most friendly. We also enjoyed the sunrise safari and loved the meal at the end except they were so darn unorganized I felt like jumping in to help.
