I have been to AKL twice now both Savannah View. And I Am staying again in December. I had planned on spending 3 down days mostly relaxing at the resort. After 7 days at Boardwalk and Wilderness lodge. I was planning on doing concierge. My question is.... I just found out a member of my extended travel party is joining me on the AKL portion of the trip. Not in a Villa as I originally thought. since they have not been to Disney in Like 8 years, I am sure they will not be laying low as I originally intended. We will be doing park days then. I want to do the sunrise safari and thought it may be a nice thing for them to share. Would it be over the top for me to say, I was doing the concierge level, Thus having them do it as well. Money is not a concern for them They can afford to do it, I just feel lkie I need to justify why? Also can I do the sunrise safari with my then 3 year old twins? Is there an age limit for this? Is it worth the expense for the lounge, I am assuming park hours will be more limited in December making us at the resort more? Thus available to use the concierge ameneties?

I think the AKL concierge is worth every penny and that your friends will thank you for suggesting it! I went with my three year old daughter last April and she absolutely LOVED the sunrise safari...as did the rest of the family.

I also feel that the December visit will be really beautiful with the holiday decorations and cooler weather (more animal activity). You are right about the reduced hours (unless you are going Dec. 25 - Jan 1) and I think it will give you more time to enjoy the resort. The concierge offerings are very extensive and wonderful and with two active children you will find it a great help (snacks, breakfasts, reservation help, etc)

Thanks, We are going the first into the second week of December. I love AKL and have waiting to try this option....

Hi there..

Well you cant keep it from them that you are staying concierge - that would not be nice if you were all there and you had not mentioned it.

Also you shouldn't change your plans to stay regular just because they are - after all it's your holiday - you should do as you like.

The best thing to do would be to tell them the truth - just say you are booked in Concierge - you have access to a lounge with breakfast, snacks and drinks and an opportunity to go on a great tour.

Tell them you don't care what they book - but you just wanted to inform them what you were doing.

About the safari... I don't believe there is an age restriction - you might need help though, with the 2 little ones. Are they okay with getting up so early for a trip like that? and can you feed them before you go or they will be really hungry by the end!!

Have fun planning your holiday - it sounds great.

Hi twin mom

First off - I would definitely tell them you're staying concierge level. Let them make the decision on where they want to stay. I wouldn't change my plans. AKL concierge is fabulous. You don't want to miss it.

I just did the sunrise safari. My boys are 4 and 2. There were 6 kids 5 and under. I believe I saw an infant as well. There are no age restrictions. My boys loved the safari. They were so interested in the animals and you really do see them close up. My 4 year old was raising his hand and asking questions. The other children were all very well behaved. Didn't hear a peep out of them. Contrary to other reports of negative behavior, we didn't experience anything but pleasantness. And the tour guides were very concious of the kids and treated them as fellow safari guests.

It was a wonderful experience for the boys and I would not have let them miss it.

You first meet at the concierge lounge between 6:30 and 7:15 am. They will have coffee, juice set up. They also brought out all the cereal, muffins and pastries, so the children were able to grab a snack before the safari.

The lounge was a blessing for the kids and us, because they play disney cartoons all day. They loved sitting in front of the tv and watch. Then it gave the adults a chance to mingle and have adult conversation. It was worth every cent.

Well the little ones would be fine on an early morning. It would be the mum with a little trouble. They are not big eaters in the am, so that should not be a problem. As for trouble..... haaa, Seriously I have one wild baby, one very calm. So The easy guy will just hold hands and follow the plan. the other guy, I will just deal with.;) As for the other people. They are my stepmother and 17 year old brother, Who will be 18 3 days from the trip his mum 50 the day after that. I figure his wanting to hang out with big sis will be few and far between, once he leaves for college, So I really want to make this special for him. Sunrise safari and an illuminations cruise I figure are 2 ways to get the ball rolling....

Hey Lizzie! Glad to hear you had a good time and the kids on your safari were well behaved.

Did you meet Sue from AKL concierge? She's wonderful :)

What day did you do the safari on?

Anne

Hey Anne,

Sue was leaving on her Disney Cruise the day I checked in, so unfortunately I didn't get to meet her. She is fabulous and I did all my planning with her.

I did the safari Saturday morning. Oh and Don Dahler from Good Morning America was on the safari with us. What a cutie pie.
