Hi - We are booked for concierge at AKL in early December. When I booked, I was not told that there is the possibility of a nonSavannah view room. Is there anyone who has stayed in AKL concierge and not received a Savannah view room if they requested one. I really want the Savannah room and only booked concierge because the CM offered my a great rate with my Disney Club code. Thanks in advance for any info that you can provide.

Hi Sherry,

I too have 2 AKL Concierge rooms booked. I was told by the CRO CM that if I request Savannah view, I would not have a problem. Explained to her that I didn't want to pay that amount of money and not have a savannah view, especially since my DS would be devastated.

I also learned on these boards that the Pool view rooms are smoking rooms, so if you request non-smoking you should be ok.

What rate did you get with DC. I'm booked with AAA, the DC rate wasn't better when I called. I'm waiting for AP's to come out.

And I couldn't get a club discount for a concierge room and I had a disney travel agent working on it for me!! I took 2 savannah room views on Zebra Trail instead because I was told they could not guarantee a savannah view room on the concierge floor. Sometimes they will put you on another floor and let you go up to the club. I figured if I was going to pay big bucks I would of wanted the convience of being on the club floor!! The difference in 2 rooms would of been over $2,ooo without my club discount. It sure depends on what CM you get.

Just back from AKL concierge. Only room request I had was that it be savannah view and it was. The conc. lounge is on the 6th floor but conc.rooms are on both 5th and 6th. It was not a big deal at all to us to stay on the 5th and go up to the 6th for the lounge.
The lobby is absolutely beautiful. Always many cm's around ready to answer questions. My family went to the water parks one day but I stayed at the resort. Took the african art tour and I was the only one! It was very enjoyable and I got individual attention. Kids (7,9) did the hidden mickeys which was really a challenge and quite entertaining too. Storytelling was also a must-do. DD(7) did the cookie decorating at Boma. I found this resort to have many activities for adults and kids.

From what we saw when were at the AKL concierge last year, we wouldn't want any of the Concierge floor (6th) rooms. Half overlook the pool and the other half overlook the part of a savannah that is mainly avian (at least we never saw anything else there when we were at a public viewing area). We want to see zebras and giraffes. ;) We didn't find it a problem going up to the 6th floor. We'll be back again this year and have requested 5th floor.
