I understand the concierge rooms are located on the 5th and 6th floors.
I was looking at an online map of AKL it appeared that there were just a handful of rooms on the sixth floor. Is this true?
How many rooms are actually on the 6th floor?

In your opinion is it better to have a room on the 5th or 6th floors?

Which floor is the concierge lounge located on?

I want to get in on this thread as we are staying at the AKL cl next January. :flower:

My worry is that I heard it is best to be on the third floor to get good views of animals as some feel being on the 5th and 6th floors is too high.

The lounge is on the 6th floor. We stayed on the 5th floor. I would have prefered to be lower, but it wasn't horrible. The walk to the 6th floor to the lounge wasn't bad.

I have the book "Fodor's Walt Disney World for Couples" and they say that there are a total of 55 concierge rooms, 15 of which are on the 6th floor, the rest are on the 5th floor.

Is that a recent book? I'd like to get a copy if you recommend it. Thanks!

Not so recent, published in 2003, but it's a wonderful book. We found it very helpful and it has a lot of tips and first hand reviews. We have the 5th edition. It's written by Rick & Gayle Perlmutter. I defintely recommend it.

Out of the 15 rooms on the 6th floor - half overlook the pool and half overlook the savanna.

We stayed on the 5th floor for concierge and it was wonderful, once on the Kudu trail just a short walk over the rope bridge and up one floor and once on the Zebra trail near the pool elevators.

This is our favourite hotel and the concierge experience was awesome.

We have stayed on both the 2nd floor and in different concierge rooms on the 5th floor. There are good and bad points to both locations. On the 2nd floor you get a more "close up" view of the animals, on the 5th floor you see a much larger view of the savannah. We love the AKL no matter what floor we stay on!!!

Does anyone know if the suites (at the end of the buildings, as I recall hearing) are on each floor? Are the two bedroom suites in one area or on certain floors, and the one bedroom suites somewhere else? Or is it just a two bedroom if they open up a connecting door to another "regular" room? (so therefore, if that was true, then every floor could be a one bedroom suite AND a two bedroom suite)

We stayed there in April and we had a savannah room on the 5th floor and it had a great view. I don't think it was too far away from the animals although I haven't stayed on a lower floor.

I counted the rooms on the 6th floor when we were there in Feb. There were 15 rooms on the 6th floor; 6 pool view rooms and 9 sunset savannah rooms. I have heard that the pool view rooms are smoking optional rooms. The other 40 are on the 5th floor. I'm not sure if the concierge has blocks of rooms they use or any room on the 5th floor. We were mid-way down the kudu trail.

One tip... there is a key access stairway from the 5th floor to the lounge. It is in the opposite side from the elevators. We found this very handy.

A great tip I read is to bring binoculars. We plan to do that.
