Hi

If I was to book a 1br or 2br concierge room, does those rooms come with a savanna view also or what kind of view does the rooms come with?

Regards

There are a total of 5 2BR lockoffs in the AKV concierge room category. 3 of those lock-offs are on the savannah side and 2 are on the pool side. You have to take what you are assigned. In generally, they are not considered to have good views either way and if you really want savannah view that is the category you should book.

Thanks for the info.

So if I opted for a 2br i would have to accept whatever view I got. Does that also go for the 1br? Are the number of 1br just as limited as the 2br?

A crappy view IMO and that's why they gave the rooms to DVC.

Agree the view from the pictures are not that good.

In general, unless you are booking prior to 11 months and walking it using AKV points, booking AKV concierge is the hardest booking at DVC.

My idea was that I would rent the points, assuming I could find an owner who would book it for me.

It's very unusual to be able to rent into AKV Concierge, largely because it does require 11+ month booking and walking the reservation. Works best if you have a friend with AKV points who really really really likes you, or you have pictures they don't want released.

Lol.

I'll give it a try, if I find someone who will rent then great, if not we will book something else.

Can the concierge rooms fit 5 or 9 or are they smaller as the value rooms?

Regards

It is difficult, but not impossible to get concierge.

I rented from an owner I had previously used for a vacation a few years ago at WDW. He called DVC at the 11 month window, right when it opened up (I guess he doesn't do it online). He didn't walk the reservation either (nor would I have expected him to do that.)

Got standard view (studio) in Jambo and waitlisted the 3 nights for concierge (I was deciding whether to waitlist concierge as #1 or value as #1 and finally decided to waitlist concierge as #1). About a month later (so 10 months prior to trip), got an email from the owner, forwarding DVC's email that the waitlist came through!

21 more points but there's three of us (possibly four) going, so splitting that extra cost is well worth it!

Lol.

All five of the two bedroom have one king bed, one queen bed, one queen sleeper sofa, one double sleeper sofa and a twin sized sleeper chair in the living room. The studio portion has one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa. The one bedroom portion has one king bed, one queen sleeper sofa and a twin sized sleeper chair. They do not have the extra bathroom in the living room like you find in Kidani Village. They are converted hotel rooms like the rest of the villas in Jambo House. The value villas are a specific category of villas located where the depth of the room was less, like three feet less, that requires the bed to be next to the window in the studio with the sleeper sofa next to the door.

A lockoff is a combination of a studio and a one bedroom. So when one studio is booked, that takes out a two bedroom (and leaves a one bedroom). If five studios are booked, all the two bedrooms are gone. Three of the two bedroom lockoffs are on one side of the floor (savanna view) and the other two are on the other side of the floor (pool view) with the open air lobby between them.

You don't book these for the view. You book them for the access to the club lounge.

When I called right at my 11 month window for next June, the 2 bdrm option was already gone. Those studios went fast! So we settled with a one bedroom and extra days of vacation!

Even as of today, there are still a few days that the 1 bdrm is still available during my 10 day stay but there hasn't been a studio or 2 bdrm available since July 2 for next June.

IMO renting a AKV CL reservation would be at a premium price. Most DVC AKV owners can't even get a reservation there due to the small number of rooms available.

Agreed! My owner didn't walk the reservation, just called at the 11 month window opening and, of course, it was already gone. But waitlisted and it opened up a month later (for next May 2017). Fortunately, the owner I am renting from is just charging me the extra points cost x the price we agreed upon per point (and not any more of a premium)

Its also really rare to get an owner who will waitlist - it ties up their points. So you were lucky twice over starry. That sort of lucky shouldn't be counted on.

Thanks for the info guys, DW just decided that a savanna view was a must have compared to the concierge option, which was only a nice to have. And as it seems that I can't be guaranteed a savanna view with the concierge option, I have to drop the idea.

Regards.

Agreed. It was an owner I had used previously, referred people to, and told me to contact when I was next planning to go. Very friendly owner! :)
