AKL Concierge Room Recommendation?

We are thrilled to be staying at the AKL CL this December, but we've never been there, so was hoping from some help from the experts.

I know the lounge is on the 6th floor, but from the little I've read here, it sounds like the better Savanna views might be from the 5th floor. I don't have any problem going up to the lounge if this is true, as I am really looking forward to sitting out and enjoying the scenery and hopefully lots of amazing animals. What do you guys think?

Also, I have also read that there can be quite a walk to your room if you are out further on the wings. Are the concierge rooms really spread out or are they in one particular wing? We do have 2 little ones, so I am not sure I want to be too far out but are the views significantly better the further out you are?

Should I request to be on a particular savanna? Any tips would be appreciated. DD loves giraffes. I'm fond of wildebeasts. ( That came out weird .) :)

Lastly, considering requesting the bunk bed room, however not sure if my 5 year old will sleep on the top bunk or not. And I don't want my little one who is only just 2 sleeping up there yet. So do any of the bunk bed rooms come with a day bed, too? (just in case DS gets scared, he would have a regular bed to sleep in). Also are the bunk bed rooms on any particular floor or area of the concierge rooms? Don't want to make this request and get a lousy view ( I'm sure there aren't any lousy views really).

If any of you stayed in a room that you absolutely loved and can remember the room number, floor, or wing you were on, I would love to hear about it.

TIA,

Jackie

I think the AKL concierge rooms are spread out as we have been in a few different areas when we have stayed concierge. You are correct, some of the rooms are quite a walk from the lounge. I am not really sure what you should request to avoid the long walk. The bunk bed rooms that we have stayed in have all had a day bed, I am not sure if that is always true though. They told us when we book the rooms that families with 5 have priority when getting the bunk bed rooms. I think that the 6th floor rooms are smoking rooms. AKL is our favorite resort and we love the concierge lounge and staff. Enjoy your trip!

If you request "near the elevator" you should not have far of a walk.

We were on arusa (sp?) savannah, zebra trail, 5th floor .. and it was a great location. The elevator up to the lounge was not far at all.

There are very few rooms on the 6th floor and they are hard to come by. Only the pool view here are smoking. There are savanah views on the 6th floor. The Arusha Savanah IMO is gorgeous but some of the rooms can be quite a hike to the lounge. In our four stays here we have always had a room with bunks and a day bed, and the top bunk has a ladder to climb up with sturdy railings on the sides. Decide what is important for your family, have it noted on your reservation, and then speak with the club CM's. They will do everything they can to accomodate your requests. Remember, however, they are only requests. This is one of my favorites and you will have a wonderful time no matter where you are. :wizard: :teacher:

We will be there in December also. We are staying on the Concierge level too.

Anyone going to be there 12/3-12/10? We have booked the Sunrise Safari for 12/8.

See you there! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks everyone. I think I will go ahead and request the bunk bed room, and hope my DS is feeling brave. And the request to be near the elevator and Arusha savannah sounds like a good idea.
