You guys have me very interested in AKL Concierge!

For those of you who are AKL Concierge experts (or even just fans of it), I have a few questions. Does anyone know how many of these rooms are bunkbed, queen, and king? From reports, they do a good job honoring requests, have any of you ever not gotten your bedding request? Also, are the bunkbeds the same size as they are at WL?

Has anyone stayed on the 6th floor? Did you like view views? Are all these rooms smoking-optional? Smoking isn't allowed on the balconies, is it?

Are the views best from the 5th floor Arusha Savanna rooms? Are these where the non-smoking rooms are?

What is served in the lounge during each service? How about beverage-wise?

And, lastly, for those of you who have stayed at AKL Concierge during the summer "regular" season, what kind of rate did you get? Would it be unheard of to get it under $300 a night?

Thanks so much!

That last post of mine on your poll thread got you thinking more about the AKL concierge, eh?;)

here's a couple of good links.......

DH is a smoker, and I'm not going to start a big debate here, but, they DID allow him to smoke on our 6th and 5th floor deluxe room balcony. housekeeping even gave him an ashtray, just DoNOT throw anything over that balcony rail...and be considerate of the non-smokers that are in the next balcony, and there's really no problem. DH would always put out his cig whenever anyone came out on their balcony near us.

The latte/coffee machine is the most wonderful thing and the food is fantastic....in fact, Cali, I have my moments that I want to re-book our trip and go to the AKL concierge instead of the CR Tower....but, as you know, we haven't done the CR...so we're going to still do the CR.
Kinda stupid thing....just to be able to say that I've done all the WDW deluxes.

I will tell you this.
I am on the watch for those next round of AP rates, and
WE WILL be staying at the AKL concierge this summer !
And probably for around that $299 price , if it's the same historic price , like we paid last time!
Even if it's a tad more, we'll pay it.....it is worth every cent!

As for the views....apples and oranges.
Savannah was wonderful-5th floor.
6th floor was nice views, but steps away from the lounge.
5th floor no big deal....a little way down the hall to elevator to go up one floor to get to lounge was not a problem for us.
Bunkbeds seemed to be nicer than the ones at WL, but probably the same size. DS, who was 10 then, and niece,6, thought they were the greatest!
In fact, my mom slept with niece on the first night in the bottom bunk, and she said they were comfy.
(you know, little one away from home and her mommy-my SIL)!:D

That's all I can think of right now.....having a hard time going to sleep tonight and just DISing until I tire out! LOL!:hyper:

Oh, yes!

Beverage wise.....if there was someone that you didn't see out, we just asked and they were happy to get it for us.
I was on vitamin shake thingie, CM noticed I was trying to mix it up in a glass, and she took my packets and blended it up for me in their kitchen.

when my Dad wanted a beer, they also got him a Bud Light.
The wine offerings were outstanding in the lounge, also!

They had all types of juices, milks, teas....I could go on and on.....:sunny:

In exactly 13 days we will be experiencing our first concierge experience while at WDW. Booked AKL when we couldn't get a AP at WL.

We have always been park people, never felt that concierge was worth the money for us. We plan on only doing 3 park days this trip so I thought "give it a try"

Sure hope I don't catch the concierge bug that seems to be going around. I do find the older I get the more perks I like. We have always done moderates up until last year. If I had to, I guess I could go back, but love the deluxe resorts. The more I travel the more I love resorts with lots of perks. After years of raising a family (4 children) and doing the budget vacations I've decided DH and I need to be spoiled. Why not spoil the Grandchildren too!

LOL! Mamu!!!!!
I do find that the older I'm getting, the more perks I love too!:wave2:

I guess we'll be seeing you on our
BITTEN BY THE CONCIERGE BUG thread when you get back!::yes::

and you have a wonderful WDW AKL experience!

...and need to bump this up for Cali!;)

Well, AKL sounds like it's a winner for us. But, I'm still going back and forth between concierge or two rooms. Amenities or space, I guess that's the question.

Jo, we already have airline tickets that prevent us from staying at AKL after the 5th. So, we'll be stuck with regular season rates.

One more question: Does AKL have rollaway beds available? If so, would they fit okay in a room with two queen beds (concierge)? We had a rollaway at ASMu one time, and I'll tell you one thing, it was a tight fit in there! LOL I'm thinking at AKL, we could put the table & chairs between the queen bed & balcony, the chair that was beside the bed between the armoire and the closet, and then put the rollaway where the table & chairs would be. Sound like it would work?

Thanks again!

Well, Cali.....AND Josephine AND Mamu......

We're booked for the AKL concierge between the CR and the YC concierge for three nights, and we have the Sunset Safari booked!

Josephine...your pics are wonderful!
Really brought back alot of memories, and your DS is such a handsome young man!
And your sweet neice, how cute she was is her Santa goofy hat!:teeth:

Cali...those pics of Jo are just a fabulous sampling of AKL concierge!

Now ....I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

PS....Cali, talked to Andrea at AKL concierge, and she told me that a family of 5 would get a deluxe room, 1 queen, bunks, and a daybed. They have those, so you wouldn't need a rollaway!
They also have the 2 queen and daybed option, too!

Jo...you did get a room with 1 queen, bunks, and a daybed, right?

:wave2:

Are you sure they have a two queen & daybed option? From everywhere I've seen, it has always been two queens w/o daybed, I know when Disney had floorplans up, they didn't show a daybed, either. Maybe they added them? If you happen to talk to AKL Concierge again anytime soon, could you get the "inside scoop" on what's going on? Thanks! ;)

Oh, yes! this is PEAK season AP AKL concierge rate....$378 night!
And that includes taxes!!!!

So, at PEAK AP rate, we're looking at around $339 before taxes, so I bet you'll be under the $299 mark, for the regular season!

OK, Cali, just got off phone with Andrea from AKL concierge and she PROMISED that ya'll would get a Queen, bunks, and a daybed!

The initial floor plans that are on file, are for the regular savannah rooms. And some of the deluxe savannah floor plans only show 2 queens.
But, she said that with concierge she would make sure you would get the room for 5...queen, bunks, and daybed.

I got it straight from her!:earsgirl:

Noticed you've already added the AKL on the sig.;)

Good questions, Cali.

May I ask another about bedding? Does anyone know if any of the concierge rooms have only a king and a daybed?

All ready to answer that one, too!

There are NOT many of those ! VERY, very FEW!

DH and I have stayed in one, though, on the 6th floor concierge.

but, most of the Kings don't have a daybed, even on deluxe savannah.

Just what I was told....and have observed on former trips!;)

Oh, Cali, what do you think about being "responsible" for my AKL booking?
Think I'll start another thread on that one! LOL! :teeth:

Thanks for the quick reply.

We booked for September and it will just be my DH and one son and me. Our son actually prefers daybeds:confused: so I thought a king and daybed would work best for us. Better get my request in I guess!

On a two night solo stay at AKL I did have a king with a daybed but it was not concierge.

Thanks again.

Well, Bambi, sounds like you'll have one heck of a trip! Maybe my questions/opinions are responsible? :teeth: Are you still trying to upgrade to tower club at the Contemporary? We really enjoyed our stay there for New Year's 2002! (however, I hope your rate is better than our's was, I hate to admit we paid $560 a night with taxes, then New Year's day checked out and went to the Grand Floridian, $276 Lagoon View! Including tax!)

Anyways, so AKL will make sure to get us a room for 5 even though there are only 4 of us? Sounds great. :)

BTW, is the AKL daybed comfortable? Looks like the ones at the Contemporary and on the Disney Cruise Line. We should be fine then. :)

Akl has the King bed and a daybed option on club level. I can not remember the number but it was the 5th floor!

you know, even though the CM told me that there's not alot of KINGs w/daybeds.
All the literature on all the other websitesie, intercot, laughingplace,DZ's,etc. all say that ALL Kings comes with a daybed!

Oh, well, go figure!

I know I put in a request for one, 6th or 5th floor, doesn't matter which level I'm on.:teeth:

I am glad you liked the pictures but I can't take credit for them. They aren't mine. They are from a poster on this board and I saved the link for future reference.

I haven't stayed at the AKL concierge yet, we are scheduled to stay there in November this year. I have stayed in a regular savannah room

Cali-D
the rooms are the same size as at the WL.

Now with concierge they do have rooms that are larger then the regular rooms. I believe those are on the 5th floor and have the daybed option. It's a toss up between closer to the lounge or a bigger room.
