i was thinking about doing AKL concierge for my next trip in early december.
if you've done this before, how did you like it?
how would it compare to GF or YC?
did you find the location of AKL to be inconvenient?
what are the views you get in concierge-i assume they are all savannah since there is only one price for the concierge category that i could find?
were you able to see lots of animals from your room?
are the rooms any bigger than the standard rooms?
did you do the sunrise safari? how much extra is it? is it worth it? what time does it leave in the morning and what days of the week is it offered?
if there are discounts offered in early december (value season) what price can i expect to pay for a concierge room at the AKL?

i am leaning toward an epcot resort, but can't get the akl off my mind!

thank you!

Wow! Lots of questions!

1. I've stayed concierge at GF, YC, and AKL. The AKL BLOWS AWAY the other two, hands down, without a doubt! The level of service is incredible. The rooms are smaller and somewhat darker, but the service and beautiful lounge make up for it. I've actually been a concierge guest at the AKL twice now, and it's hands down my very favorite.

2. The location is not as convenient as the YC, but because I hardly ever go to the MK, and think the monorail is painfully slow, I have no problem with the AKL location. It's kind of nice actually, the isolation gives it a lot of it's charm.

3. Sorry, not all concierge rooms ahve a savannah view. Some of the 6th floor smoking rooms face the pool. So if you really want a savannah view, be sure to request non-smoking, these are all savannah view rooms.

4. Yes! Keep in mind that for a couple hours each afternoon there won't be many/any animals present, but that's generally when people are at the parks anyhow!

5. I've been in a deluxe room and the lockout of a 2BR suite with is a standard room, and frankly couldn't tell much difference size wise. Neither are very large--smaller than the YC and much smaller than the GF, especially in the bathroom/vanity area..

6. I've done the sunrise safari twice,m so I guess it's worth it. It's an extra $50 per person. It includes a fabulous breakfast. It's run on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 7:00am.

Hi there.

I hope you book your holiday at AKL concierge - you won't be disappointed.

My daughter and I stayed there for 9 nights last summer and we are booked again this year.

Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking the Arusha Savanna on the Kudo trail. We saw lots of animals - all the time (except for when they go in to be fed from around noon-3pm) . Giraffes, Zebra, Ankole cattle etc... they also make interesting sounds when you are in bed at night you can hear them - it is neat.

The savanna is lit artificially at night so even then you can see activity.

We did the sunrise safari and thought it was wonderful. It departs tues and sat and is about 50.00 for adults. I highly recommend it.

The concierge lounge is large and airy and had great food/beverage offerings throughout the day. The breakfasts are an especially convenient alternative to restaurants.

The rooms are lovely - but fairly small for a deluxe resort - but you have everything you need there and the turndown service at night is a nice touch. The deluxe rooms are larger than the standard rooms. You may also recieve a room on the secure concierge 6th floor - however the views are not as desirable.

The service of the concierge staff is excellent and they were able to secure reservations for PS's that were sold out.

I have some photos of our holiday at AKL on my web link below..

Have fun planning your trip

if you've done this before, how did you like it?

LOVED it.

how would it compare to GF or YC?

I've never stayed at either so I can't compare. But I bet the food is better at AKL.

did you find the location of AKL to be inconvenient?

Not at all. This resort is one of the few that does not share buses with any other resort.

what are the views you get in concierge-i assume they are all savannah since there is only one price for the concierge category that i could find?

They are NOT all savannah rooms and you are not guaranteed a savannah room. Some are pool view. Most of them, however, are savannah rooms.

were you able to see lots of animals from your room?

Yes. Right smack on the Arusha savannah.

are the rooms any bigger than the standard rooms?

Yes, definitely.

did you do the sunrise safari? how much extra is it? is it worth it?
what time does it leave in the morning and what days of the week is it offered?

Haven't done the safari. Heard it costs around $50, including brunch, and I don't know if there's a child's price. It leaves very early in the morning and is only offered Saturdays and Tuesdays.

if there are discounts offered in early december (value season) what price can i expect to pay for a concierge room at the AKL?

AP rates have been as low as $250/night or so.

If I wanted concierge service, it would be either this resort or the Polynesian. I don't feel the need to try any of the others after these two.

wow. thank you so much for the great responses to my many questions. and i loved the pictures! i now know that if i do akl, i will definitely do the concierge and i know exactly what to request in a room. i have always heard great things about the concierge there much more than any of the other hotels. i will definitely share my final decision when we make it. but thank you all again for sharing your experiences. it was very helpful.

I have a question too if you don't mind. We are staying concierge and requested a room with a view of Arusha savannah. I just got my confirmation and it is noted on there.....does that mean we are pretty much guaranteed this view??
Thanks

Hi there..

They do note your requests on your confirmation - which puts you at ease because you know they have them recorded.

It is still just a request though... not a guarantee.

They will absolutely do everything possible to grant your requests!

Have a wonderful Holiday
