AKL Conceirge Tipping ?

We are staying AKL Conceirge in October. They have been wonderful and have helped me with several PS and tee times via email. I am wondering what the policy is on tipping.

Obviously, we tip valet, bellhop, mousekeeping, but how do we take care of Conceirge staff, particularly when they have been so helpful, pre-trip?

Generally they will not accept a cash tip--however you could bring them something like candy or send them a fruit or cookie basket.

I am always interested in this topic because one time at YC, we were upgraded to concierge and we were very happy but really didn't use their services because we felt we didn't pay for them to do anything for us. We did enjoy tea and coffee and soft drinks in the evening, but nothing more then that. I felt like I wanted to thank them even for that and sent 10 gallon buckets of caramel popcorn for the entire staff at concierge. I didn't get much response back and then worried that maybe I should of tipped them cash. My daughter is staying there this coming January and again I really don't know what to tell her about tipping anyone. Are they really not suppose to accept cash or is that assumed? Confused on this subject more then any other. Lynn

Are they not allowed to accept cash tips? Or is it guache to tip the Concierge staff in cash?

We're not hillbillies by any means, but Concierge is new to us and I don't want to offend or not properly recognize a job well done!

If you want to give them a tip.....

An envelope is a good idea. HOWEVER... they have to refuse the tip 3 times. If you offer it the 4th time- it will be accepted.

Any cash tips received go into one general fund for the Concierge staff, and when there's enough, they all go out for a meal together- using the tip money.

They told me this a couple of years ago...... so I make sure to offer it more than they refuse it.

It's just a thought..........
