AKL CL Safari Offerings

I've been searching the forum and found some basic info on the Sunrise/Sunset Safaris and the Wildlife Excursions. Now the Sunset Safari is not an option for us so we're trying to decide on the Sunrise Safari and the Wildlife Excursion. For those of you who have done one or the other, is it worth it to do both? From what I've been reading and the pictures I've seen, they seem different, but I want to be sure so we're not wasting our money. Any advice/info from people who have gone would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and with the Wildlife Excursion, is it better to do the morning or afternoon one?

Also, how early can you/should you make your reservation for either safari?

We did the sunrise in Nov. We loved it. We took our 3 sons 4, 2, and 1 and they were so still and loved it also. I didn't like the beginning of the safari but I can see where some people would. Since you enter AK before it is actually open you enter on a bus through the back. Some of the magic is lost when you see it. I didn't kind it interesting but my DH did. Then you board a safari truck and heaf out to see the animals. THe animals were amazing. They were so close. There was a baby giraffe that we literally could have touched. The driver stays a long time so you can ask ??? and take pics. Then you have a lovley buffet style breakfast in the park after the "safari". We thought it was well worth every penny. It is early though. True to the sunrise part.

Thanks for sharing! I've never heard anything bad about the Sunrise Safari and knew we'd be doing it. Then I read about the Wildlife Excursions and we want to do that too, but not if it's just the same thing.

As for going backstage, it doesn't bother me. I've been backstage at EPCOT and MK before... unfortunately before I had ever been to the actual parks, so magic was already gone.

I have read about the sunrise and sunset safari but not about the wildlife excursion. What is that? Curious because we are staying at AKL this summer.

That explained everything so well. Currently, we are booked for AKL savannah but want to upgrade to club level. The only problem my TA is running into is that all AKL club level rooms offered at the AAA are not available. She is going to keep trying. Let's hope some pixie dust is thrown our way. Since the wayama tour is now available for all guests at AKL, we are definitely going to sign up for that. Hoping to do the others if we can get the upgrade to club level at AAA rate.

The Sunrise Safari and Wildlife Discovery Excursion are practically the same tour. The Sunrise Safari includes a wonderful buffet breakfast. Unless you want to repeat the tour, you should just pick one. (kathyzapp )

I can't take credit for the explanation in the other post, but I'm glad I could help out by passing along the link. We went ahead and reserved our room for next year on Club Level but as soon as the AAA rates for next year come out, we're going to see if we can get some kind of discount. Here's to hoping you get some pixie dust!

John's Mom - thank you so much for your reply. We don't want to waste our money so that's why I was trying to find out if the Sunrise Safari and the Wildlife Excursion were different or not.
