Does anyone know if a valet brings you to your room personally after check-in or do they give you a map to go yourself and then the bags arrive later?

If you are concierge and your room is ready, bell services will take you and your bags straight to your room. If you're not, you may leave your bags with bell services and go check in. If your room is ready you can either retrieve them yourself, or call them from the phone in your room and they'll bring them up to you. Of course, you could just keep your bags the entire time but it could be a very long walk to your room. It is more fun to walk w/o your bags and enjoy all the different lookouts on your way.

We have always been lucky on arrival and had the bellman take us along with our luggage to the room. It makes it much easier than trying to find it on your own and they were standard rooms both times.

In May when we checked in valet took our luggage and gave us a number to call when we got our room assignment. We were given a map on check in and pointed in the general direction of our room. We then called valet after entering our room and they came up within 5mins with all our luggage.
