AKL-Can you help with planning?

We are making plans now to go to AKL in April 2009. I am planner so I want to know everything months (even a year in this case) ahead of time. I am hoping some of you can answer some questions I have about the lodge that was not already answered. Keep in mind we are going Thanksgiving 2008 spending most of our time in the parks enjoying the Christmas activities. We are staying at the CR during that visit. The April trip is going to be more about enjoying Easter together and some of the other activities Disney has to offer (Cirque, Kids Club for a parents night out, Water Parks, etc.).


1. I have booked our rooms, savanna view. Which savanna should I have requested? I know it is not a guarantee.

2. Right now, we are set to arrive on Easter Sunday, leave the following Saturday. We are thinking about adding 2 days and arriving on Friday and foregoing the beach for 2 days. April 2007 it was below freezing on the beach and I don't want that. Are there fun activities for my DS7 on Easter Sunday (ie. egg hunt, etc.)? I think the question if 8 days at AKL being too much has been answered that no it is not (for the majority).

3. Has anyone used the Simba club?

4. Has anyone participated in the activities they have for children (ie. camps, storytelling, etc.)?

I know this is a lot but I would appreciate any help you can give me. I originally posted at the end of another thread but was worried it might get lost.

Well we like the main savannah (Arusha) and prefer the Zebra trail side due to the layout that side is closer to the pool and lobby.

We did do some of the kids activities and the story telling, flamingo feedings, and lobby parade were the best ones.

If at all affordable try and stay club level and you qualify for the sunrise safari it was really the highlight of our trip that year.

You will love the lodge it is very laid back and relaxing.

Thanks for replying. What is the lobby parade? How many days did you stay? I see you are going CR MK View in 2008. We are also over Thanksgiving--Can hardly wait!!!

We did all of the lodge actives the listed above & nigth visoin gooles, tracking of animals, cookie decorating, music We visted Boma & Jiko for tours. ARe you disipointment of the trip was that we did not take a full day to just hang at AKL. We were on the Uzima Savannah, same level as the Lobby which was great. Down the Zebra trail yes we were towards the end but it never seemed like a long walk. We saw so many Animals all the time. Loved AKL.

Not sure of your childs age/s but the kids things were for young kids, under 9 I would say. It was very popular and kids seemed to have lots of fun!!!

We were booked for standard room and they upgraded us to a Savannah view which my family loved. It was a VERY pleasant surprise indeed!!

We were just at AKL week before last (from the Wednesday before Easter up to Easter Sunday). There were numerous Easter related activities all during those days, culiminating in a visit from Mickey and Minnie on Easter morning.

Thanks so much for the great replies! I think I will go ahead and reserve two more nights. My DS will be 7 then so he will enjoy all the activities.
