We are arriving 4-14, yes, this Wednesday:cool1: to AKL. My question is on the bus transportation. How early should we leave to arrive at MK and Epcot for RD. Meaning, how much time should we allow for transportation. We like to get to the parks at least 30 minutes prior to RD.

Also, does it really take that long to get to DTD from AKL?

Thanks so much:thumbsup2

If you plan to be at the bus stop an hour before opening there should not be a problem. That is usually our plan and we almost always wait and wait and wait for the turnstiles to open. Never missed a rope drop yet!

This is what I'd suggest as well. If you want to be at the parks 30 min before RD, then I'd be waiting for the bus about 50-60 minutes before the park opens.

Ride to MK is about 12-15 mins by bus and ride to DTD from AKL is about 20-23 mins.

We love AKL and hope that you do too:thumbsup2

I knew ahead of time that the bus transportation times would be longer, as the resort is more remote to all the parks except AK.

I think we had some bad timing when we would take the buses, we would just miss our bus and then wait for another to arrive. They say that buses come every 15min or so, but sometimes it seemed like 20-25min.

The ride itself was not too bad once we got going. The bus to DTD was the longest for us, 45min from start to stop.

I just planned on arriving at the bus stop an hour before I wanted to arrive anywhere. Except for AK, then I would que up 30min early.

This seemed to work well for us, that way if our timing was bad or it took longer for the bus to arrive or there were wheelchairs to load, then we were not stressed about time.

Hope you have a great time and enjoy your stay:dance3:

Wow, 12-15 & 20-23 minutes. How do you know that and I have to ask, why do you know that? It's pretty amazing the information you can get on here. And I'm guessing it's correct.

:lmao:
Before my stay at AKL I had similar questions. I was told AKL was just south of the South Pole and we would never see the light of day or for that matter a Disney park in a reasonable amount of time. I may be exaggeratting a little, so I went into it with a let's see what happens attitude (and to give a different perspective when I see the you are never gonna make it posts - not so much here on Trans., but more on the resorts boards when deciding where to stay). So I timed a few of our trips. To MK the longest one was 16 mins and that was because a supervisor was stopping all the busses and asking the driver questions, don't know why or what they were. The shortest time was 12 mins as we hit all green lights on the way and anywhere in between for the remaining trips I timed. It was just more for my information than anything. Also, the same thing to DTD and the other parks as well. I just glanced up at the clock as we began to pull away and then again as we were pulling into the unloading area and remembered the shortest and longest and that's it. So the figures are not exact down to the second, but are fairly accurate for planning purposes - imho. :) I commute each day on a busy highway that can be at times 3 hours one way - snow storms - or on average 45-60 mins on a regular commuting day for what should be a 20-25 minute ride if taken on a Sunday morning, so 10-15 mins on a bus while on vacation is not a big deal to me. For some it is the end of the world and they need to be where they need to be 2 minutes quicker.
