Sorry, the search function won't work...

For those of you who have stayed at AKL, how was the bus transportation? How long did it take to get back and forth to the Magic Kingdom?

TIA!

Donna

We love the buses at AKL. I think it took 15-20 minutes to get to MK. The nice thing about the buses at AKL: You almost always get a seat, the buses aren't as crowded as the value resorts; when waiting for buses at AKL, you're in a covered area not in the blazing sun; you don't wait long for the buses. It makes it a much more peaceful bus trip.

Ditto to above...and another great thing is that the buses are direct, no additional stops at other resorts along the way. I was extremely happy with the AKL buses...I usually only waited 0-10 minutes...I think there was one 15-20 minute wait the whole time I was there.

Just my opinion, but I think AKL has the best bus service! You don't share bus service with another resort, so the trip seems pretty short!

I agree with other posters AKL has one of the best bus transports at Disney.

One last bit...I stayed at Poly in Oct. and used the bus system at WDW exclusively. I thought it worked pretty good. For our trip last week, (we stayed at AKL) my DH insisted he wanted to rent a car as well...he wanted the "freedom" to be flexible and be able to rely on his own transportation if he wanted. Well, once he saw how wonderful the buses are, that was it for the car. We hardly used it! Especially the 5 min. ride to AK and to Magic Kingdom...that way you don't have to drive to the TTC, take the tram to the monorail, etc. It was so easy to MK the most of all! Definately a huge plus for staying at AKL!!

Does AKL only have 1 bus stop or does it make different stops around the resort? We are considering it for our fall trip and this will be our first experience in a deluxe resort.

There is only 1 stop at AKL. The stop is to the left on the lobby when exiting.

AKL does not share with anyother resort so the bus is normally less crowded.

We strive for no more than 15 minutes between busses.

I'm obviously in the minority, but we stayed there in May of 2005 and the bus situation is the reason we won't stay there again. Our experience was that there was a long wait for the bus and then of course if you were going to anywhere but the AK then you had quite a ride.

While my wife and daughter took a nap one afternoon I went scouted other properties and transportation, basically decided that we wanted monorail access on our next trip. We are going again this May but are staying off-site because others in our group wanted to try a different hotel.

Everybody has different experiences hope yours are all positive!
