AKL bus transportation...good or bad?

Thinking of staying here on our next visit. How are the buses? Long waits and very packed? Just curious as I realize the travel times to the parks are a bit longer.

I don't remember ever having to wait an exceptionally long time but they were usually pretty full. The buses stop at both Jambo House and Kidani Village but aren't shared with any other resorts, which is a huge plus for us.

Bus service at AKL is no worse than at the other resorts. I wouldn't make a decision about where to stay based on bus service. You'll hear stories about how great the service was at x resort, right next to stories about how bad it was at that same resort. It really all comes down to luck.

We were there in July (Jambo House) and the parks were packed. The bus stops were never busy and we always had seats, never had to stand. It was much less hectic than our experiences at moderates and values.

I agree that the buses from AKL didn't seem any better or any worse than the buses from other resorts (I've stayed at Moderates and Deluxes). Sometimes the buses came very soon after we got there, other times we must have just missed the bus and had to wait. The ride times didn't seem that much longer than from other places. AKL is an amazing resort and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

We had a good experience as well. There was only one time I remember waiting maybe 20 mins for an Epcot bus to arrive. We only had to stand on the way back to the hotel because we left with the herd at park closing.

I have stayed at both Jambo and Kidani, I find the bus service from those resorts to be excellent.

Sort of related, how does the bus vs car travel time compare from Kidani to MK? Factoring in the TTC when driving I wasn't sure if it would end up taking longer, but we much prefer driving when practical

Factoring in the TTC/Tram/Ferry/Monorail thing, its almost always faster (and always easier) to take the bus to the MK.

We drove to Typhoon Lagoon and all of our resort dinner ADRs, but we took the buses to the parks.

We're definitely driving everywhere except MK, but I just wanted to try and gauge exactly how much longer the MK trip would take by car/monorail.

We're used to staying at Bonnet Creek, which is more in the middle so it makes for easier trips.

Edit: I guess my internal map is off. Google Maps says it's only a minute longer trip to TTC from Kidani than from Bonnect Creek, so now I have a good gauge of how long it takes.

I thought the buses for AKL were horrible. It seemed every other resort had more buses than those headed for AKL. We had a wait of close to an hour after Epcot closed. All the other resort lines were long empty by the time I got on the bus, and there was at least one more bus load after me.

I read that at the resort they have video monitors that tell you when the next bus will arrive. So helpful!
