A lot of posters on my previous thread stated that they spent less time in the parks due to spending more time at the resort-this is exactly what I'm looking for,

Question.....we usually go to the parks at opening time and stay until 2pm then go back to resort to rest, swim. How did YOUR routine change when you were at AKL? Is early morning or late afternoon-or even night, the best time to see the "critters"?:)

We found mornings and late afternoon/twilight to be good times to view the animals. I highly recommend having room service breakfast out on the balcony. You can't see much after dark.

I'm a very early riser, and our room was right over a feeding pod so we had the best luck from 6-9 am. We also saw many in the 6-8 pm slot. We went in december so by that time it was getting quite dark.

We saw the most in the evening. One time we were by the pool, and there was a giraffe like 15 feet away!!!It was awesome. It seems that the times of the day when it is cooler are the times of the day when the animals are more active.

Hi bekkiz

It sounds like you had a good room location. Do you happen to remember the number?

2391. Actually, most people would not have liked it because of the fact it was literally the farthest room from everything. I loved it beacuse it was quiet + I could see two savannas at once!

We found from 6am till 8am and then from 4pm on. One night around 9pm all of the Wildabeast(sp?) were lying in a circle it was so cute.

I agree with early morning and around dusk. We had a savannah view on the Kudu Trail - not too far from the lobby, and looking out toward the front of the resort (not in toward the Arush Rock area). I would watch three giraffes having breakfast around 6:30ish each morning- along with assorted other animals (different every day)...but by 7:30 am, most of the animals were gone! Then early evening they were back. I made a special effort to look out each morning when I woke up, because that was what I was there for!
It was funny - when we checked in our first day around 11:30am,
I couldn't wait to see our view. I was very disappointed...not one animal. I assumed we got a lousy room - that everyone else must be seeing the animals except me. So, we just headed off to the parks and came back around 5 or 6 - only to find tons of animals outside our balcony. DH and I watched 2 "tommys" fighting - butting horns until the horns got locked together and they ran around in a circle with locked horns (like a dog chasing it's tail), until they finally shook free from each other. Two seconds later they were at it again. We watched for a long timeand laughed. Each morning we tried to get up early, run and grab coffee at Mara, and come back and sit on the balcony watching the animals.
I loved this resort (our first deluxe stay ). We just got back, and I am already planning to take my parents down in Oct to stay there.

Thanks bekkiz ! We only have one night at AKL and 'your' room or area sounds like it would be great for us!

You might as well have your full day in the parks. The animals (or were when we were there)...are taken in for a check up in the middle of the day...starting around lunch time...and then they are let back out around 3-4pm.

My favorite time to watch them was in the middle of the night...it is so quiet, you can hear them chewing and the grass crunching under their feet.

We were on the Arusha Savannah, Kudos Trail side, and the animals are pretty much right there...very nice!
