AKL - Anyone Else Plan on NOT Moving??

I do not plan on moving. If I get there and they tell me I have to, I will only because I am only going there to see the animals. If they tell me the animals are moved I will gladly move and just come back another time and stay at AKL.

We are staying put as well! Everytime a CM tries to get me to switch, it's to a resort that is going to cost me about $500! Even if the price was the same, we don't want to switch!

Wow, that is strange, all the others are getting moved for no cost, or getting money back.

We are really hoping we don't have to move. We don't check in until 9/27 - Savannah View - so I am really praying that what they are saying is true and the work will be lessened by then.

This is our anniversary trip (10 years) and AKL was mainly for dh - he would sit and watch those animals all day long - me, not so much. Lol But, he isn't the Disney freak that I am and if it makes him super happy, I am happy! So, for him, I really, really hope we can stay there.

I have already warned him we may not be able to, and he is like, "Whatever - we are still at Disney without kids! It will be great!" And, he is right. But, I have it all figured out in my mind - relaxing watching the animals with a drink on our balcony, strolling down to Jiko for dinner.......

I hope it works out for everyone the way they want!

I do secretly love the Poly and would like to get bumped there, but for DH, I really want him to experience AKL.

We are staying. We have a tent and sleeping bags... willing to camp. We want the magic of watching DS look out over the savannh and see animals. Like the first time he say MK open and the train brought Mickey Mouse. Somethings are just priceless..and worth a bit of possible noise.

Thats how I feel. It will have to be a pretty sweet deal for me to move, especially when its a surprise for DS.

My TA called and spoke with the front desk manager and was assured that only half the resort was closing. He said that our ressie would not be affected. He also added that the animals have adapted well to the construction and are behaving normally, so they will not be moved off the property. At one point I saw a post about Disney moving the animals. I was a bit nervous about that one.

Ok, we have all these threads on those that were offered the move or called to request the move.

Now, who else wants to stay put!!

We have a Pool View Bunk Bed room for 8/26 - 9/2, and I don't plan on switching resorts!!

I just posted a new thread ANOTHER AKL REFUGEE! That is me! We planned on staying but was giving no option to stay, believe me, I tried everything! I mean everything to stay, did I mention everything Nothing worked for me, so we are now official WL relocators! Keep us posted on your status

I saw your post!! I am so sorry you got moved. Every day when I get home from work, I hope there are no msgs from my TA!!!! My kids have been bugging me since the first time they stayed there (which was one nite only and then we stayed at a time share) that they want the bunk bed rooms again!! They were so happy when I told them where we were going to stay this year!!

And if they have to move us I have no idea where to go. I am not that interested in WL. I need a room that has the 3 beds, and I don't want SSR. We have stayed at the Poly. We really want AKL. I also wanted an awesome pool, and that is AKL. The kids loved it and they love the one at CSR. I am hoping I don't get that call.

Just keep us posted. I asked about SSR, the pool looks really nice there, but all they had was a 1 bedroom and we didn't want to sleep on the pull out sofa. I didn't mention that we got upgraded ( of sorts) to WL bunkbeds, I asked for conceirge (again I tried everything) but they refused, maybe I will be fortunate enough to be upgrade to CL at check in!!

I also tried everything to stay. DH even told the CM to move someone else who was willing to move and give us their room Anyway, we eventually realized if we didn't pick, WDW would pick for us. For more than a month they have been pushing SSR on me. I kept declining. We settled for 4 nights Poly (I was not thrilled, but the idea is growing on me!) and 2 more nights added to our WL ressies. We are booked with Lagoon View and I like the idea of being able to go to the beach and watch Wishes every night! Plus, being on the monorail will be nice for the kids who like to ride up front with the driver!

I even broke down today and "unsubscribed" from the AKL threads and changed my signature from AKL to Poly. It was a sad moment!

Is this Standard View Studio as in DVC? If that is the case, you won't be moved. The DVC rooms that they are opening are all going to be ok.

Sorry to be a pest but I do have one more question. I requested Sav view but of course it is not available. Looking at the completed map it would seem that we will be in a pool view. Am I reading the map wrong. I really don't want to look at a parking lot. Do you think it's necessary to put pool view in as a request. Thanks again.

We check into AKL on 8/26, the morning we get off the Wonder. We have a bunk bed room booked.
