AKL advice

We are planning a trip in January and I'm really wanting to get a Savannah View room the first night at AKL before moving on to the CR for 6 days. We are a family of 5 and it looks like the only rooms that sleep 5 would be the club level, which are pretty pricey. Are the views at the Villas just as good? What room/view is your favorite and do you prefer AKL or the Villas? TIA!!

I have not stayed at AKV, but I have been there many times. I have stayed at AKL several times and really prefer AKL (Jambo House) because the lobby is so much more impressive. We also like having two queens instead of one queen and a sofa bed. I am not sure about the rooms that sleep five because we have only stayed in the ones that sleep four. I have seen the one bedroom villas become available in both resorts. Have you compared prices between the one bedroom villas and the club rooms? I think the standard club rooms at Jambo House only sleep four, but the one bedroom suites at club level will sleep 6 (and boy are they pricey).

The one bedroom suites at AKL will sleep 5, and that might be your best bet for a room that sleeps 5, or you could get 2 standard rooms at Jambo House for about the same rate.

We stay standard because it is so much more reasonably priced. We still get the benefits of the lodge, and we can see the animals from the common viewing areas. Twice we have had a savanna view because several of the standard rooms have views of the animals. The only downside is that they only sleep four, which is too bad for 5 people families.

I adore AKL and both resorts have wonderful viewing areas and amenities. Can't go wrong with Boma or Sanaa, either. Hope you get a chance to try one or both.

We've stayed standard CL at AKL and in a 1-bedroom Jambo villa. I preferred the 1-bedroom as it was much more spacious. The standard rooms at AKL are a bit small IMHO. The savannah views were equally good in both resort and villa rooms IMHO.

The AKL CL rooms are CRAZY high for one night and the 1-bedroom at the Jambo are still a little price but more reasonable! Thanks for your response! I just wasn't sure if there was a difference between the AKL and Jambo but it sounds like you enjoy the Jambo so that makes me feel better about going the cheaper route! We have never tried Boma or Sanaa but I think we are going to do breakfast at Boma this time around and I'm super excited!

I don't think the price is crazy high at all! There's generally a small different between a standard Savannah view room and a CL room (also Savannah view). I just prefer CL. The lounge on the top floor is lovely and the food is great. But all rooms at AKL are smaller, so if you want more space, a 1-bedroom villa is probably better. You still only have two actual beds, but you'll also have a sofa.
