AKL accessible rooms

Has anyone used the accessible rooms at AKL? the only pics i can find show a roll-in shower and a tub with rails, but i can't believe that both are in the same room! How was the room? Are they far away from the parking? Are they all in annoying locations (i know some hotels only have them on the 1st floor, which can be pretty loud)

We just got back from AKL. The room we had featured 2 queen size beds and a roll-in shower. We were in a suite on the fifth floor, and I believe the bedroom was the same size as the other deluxe category rooms. My power wheelchair is 52 inches long when I'm seated comfortably. There was room to move around in the room, though I'm not sure if the standard size rooms would have worked for me. I was really glad to have the extra room of the deluxe size rooms. Unfortunately, those will be phased out this year as they convert the deluxe rooms to DVC. I looked at the pictures we took, but the ones of they room don't really show you the space well. Sorry. Our room was relatively close to the elevators, though suite locations can vary, as I think they are located at the end of each building. We had specifically asked for a wheelchair accessible suite. I'm not sure where the other handicap rooms are located. If you have any other questions, let me know.

We have stayed in accessible rooms at AKL with different views and locations. They are spread throughout the resort so you won't be stuck being on a designated floor or a certain view or room type. AKL has the best accessible bathrooms on property, IMO.---Kathy

While a bit off topic, another thing that I felt was great about AKL was the bus system. While it's a relatively long hike to the bus stop, we seldom had to wait long for a bus (and most times it was because we were waiting on other members of our group and had to skip the first bus that came our way). All but one time I was also the only person in a wheelchair, so loading/unloading was very easy.
