I'd go with the suite, especially if you haven't stayed in one before. I still remember the first time that I stayed in a WDW suite -- it was a magical feeling, as Disney really does a lovely job with decorating them. *Sigh*
A one-bedroom suite will get you a large, master bathroom and then a half-bathroom (toilet, sink, mirror, and wall-mounted telephone for those emergencies when you run out of toilet paper). Two connecting rooms will get you two regular bathrooms. I have found that one bathroom plus a half-bathroom is plenty (you just have to plan shower-time appropriately, which I have found to be no big deal while on vacation). By the way, if your family is into showers AND baths, the master bathroom contains both, so in effect, someone could be taking a shower while the other is taking a bath. Double the fun, double the pleasure (as long as the kids don't mind sharing the bathroom at the same time, that is!).
A suite has a vanity area that is found outside the master bathroom. It's a great place to style your hair or apply your makeup at while someone else is inside the bathroom getting ready.
A one-bedroom suite will get you a large balcony, always a nice touch to any resort room.
A one-bedroom suite will get you a small CD/clock radio in the master bedroom (at least at the AKL it will). In *some* WDW resorts, a suite will also get you a kick-*** stereo system. Sadly, I have found that not all resorts have those stereo systems in their suites (the AKL does not have one in their one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites, but my guess is that their Pres & Vice Pres suites do have them).
A suite will get you more than one telephone line (I believe you get two lines by default). Of course, if you have two resort rooms booked, you'll get one line in each of them (thus, two in total).
A suite's dining area has a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, sink, and a nice table and four chairs. You don't get that in a resort room.
A suite also has a nice living room area that contains a sofa sleeper, chairs, desk, and a larger television than is found in the normal resort room. You dont get that in a resort room.
Those are just a few of the things that come to mind when I think of the AKL and its suites. Of course, only you know what your family needs while on vacation, and only you can choose it. Choose wisely, oh, FloridaFam (hee hee!)
