I've been lurking around for a couple of weeks, so I thought I would hello and thank everyone for all the GREAT Disney information. I have been to DW 3 times, but have never stayed at one of the resorts. So, this time hubby and I decided to stay at AKL. When I first looked into prices I was a bit bummed, it just seems too expensive - we really wanted to stay in a Savannah room...but for $290/night, I wasn't too sure. So I called DW and told them I was an AAA member and wanted to know if any rooms were available under the AAA discount for the week we are going....Well, YES - YES - YES and to top it off it is a Concierge Level room.

For LESS then the $290/night that I was unsure off, I get the view and all the concierge perks....I feel like I just won the lottery!

Whoo - Hoo!!!

Talk about a great early Xmas gift; congrats to you! And I guarantee you will love the AKL.

We will be staying onsite at AKL savanna view Christmas week 2008 for the first time.:woohoo: If anyone out there has any tips or maybe a trip report to share, please do.:wizard:

We stayed at the AKL the week before Christmas 2005. The closer it got to Christmas, the more crowded the parks got. I subscribed to TourGuideMike. He has the best advice on what parks to visit on what days and the best times to see certain attractions.

The Lodge is absolutely beautiful during the holidays. When you arrive, make sure you take time to tour the Lodge and talk to the CMs from Africa.

My DH and I will be at the AKL Dec. 14-19.

We are going just after Thanksgiving...Nov 30th to Dec 8th. I've heard a ton of great things about AKL, that is why I am super excited about this trip.

Anyone who has been to AKL during December, I'd love some great tips!

That's great you'll be staying at the AKL next year...and concierge no less for a great price! :thumbsup2

My family and I are leaving for the AKL tomorrow  (6am flight from Philadelphia ) to stay through Christmas and I'll try to post pictures while I'm there and a trip report when I get back. I've been hearing for over a year how wonderful the AKL looks at Christmas.

The Lodge is breathtaking at Christmas time. I was there the first week of December. You will definately love it and it's well worth the extra expense.

What does that mean? Who is TourGuideMike? Is it a website?
Thanks!!!

Question: I have read on some websites that not all club level rooms at AKL have a savannah view -. I'm confused, on disneys website it says: Standard Room, Kilimanjaro Club rooms offer a view of a one of the savannas at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Has anyone booked a club level room and did NOT get a savannah view...Should I have it noted on my reservation that I would like the savannah view?

That used to be the case. Now ALL Standard Club Level rooms are on the 4th floor, Savannah view! :thumbsup2 The best source for information is the IPO Staff at AKL (the best IPO staff there is!). As long as you have a reservation for Club Level, they will be happy to answer any questions you have and provide you with any information you need! :)

TourGuideMIKE sponsors the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies Forum. His site will explain exactly how it works. There is a fee, and it is definitely worth it. When I first signed up in 2005 for a trip, I had a hard time understanding it, but I'm a computer dummy. I recently signed up for it again for my trip next December. Check it out. If you still have any questions, just ask.
