We’ve managed to book an AKL value 1 bed room for the beginning and end of our stay in August. We’re a family of 4 and this is our first time in a 1 bed, so we’re very excited! We stay for 4 weeks so having the laundry facilities in the room will be a huge advantage! Just wondering if there’s anything we should know about these rooms, or if anyone has any photos. I believe you can’t put in room requests for these rooms.
Sooooooo excited!

You cannot make location requests for value rooms. As to location, see this map http://www.parkinfo2go.com/dvc-akv/floor5-large.html. The 1BRs are part of 2BR lock-offs, the values are the ones along Ostrich and Giraffe Trails, and 4 of the 1BRs have pool view, 4 Sunset savanna view, and 2 a view of the front area (called parking lot view, but what you actually see is mostly trees and bushes). The main difference between the value rooms and others is that the value rooms are smaller than the standard and savanna view rooms. The 1BR is fine for four with a king in the bedroom and a pull-out queen in the living room. The kitchen will feel narrow mainly because they decided to put a center table in the kitchen, which takes up a significant portion of the space. For a walk-through go here youtube.com/watch?v=9UXA-N1USi4.

That’s perfect, thank you! Since this is our first ever 1 bed stay, the size of it is going to be significantly larger than I’m used to :-)

I've heard it is a bit tight to close the bedroom door because of the shorter depth to the villa. It's about three feet shorter in depth than the standard or savanna view villas.

If you're like us, most of your time is NOT spent in the room. The value is a great way to get more bang for your buck so this is AWESOME.

And I must say, I'm truly jealous that you'll be there for four weeks. So much time to be able to enjoy the entire resort as well as the Springs and all the parks.

If you go on youtube and search for akl value 1 br, you should be able to find some room videos that people have posted. Try and look at the most recent as I think a few updates have been done.

Also, if you are a member of touringplans.com, they have a room finder and a room request system that has worked around 90% of the time for me. You can search locations of rooms based on the type of room and then put in a request for that particular room. It's NOT GUARANTEED that you will get it, but they send a fax to the resort with your requests, five days before you check in. It's a small price to pay to try and get the room you want.

Good luck and have a great trip! :)

The rooms are just slightly smaller than the others and I doubt you will even notice. These were originally regular hotel rooms that were converted to DVC villas so they are just a little smaller from what I was told. We had a value studio in June and I really like the location a lot. It was near the front entrance of the resort and very close to the pool / elevators / gift shop....I tried to make a room request via email and chat on the DVC member webpage and they politely let me know they cant take requests for value rooms. We had a nice pool view. :D There is a Video on You tub e that shows a one bedroom value room at Jambo...
