Akershus?

The Akershus breakfast was a favorite with us when we went in September. DH even said the only way he would agree to bounceback at that time was if I promised that we would eat there again. He still dreams about the potato casserole and DS and DD still talk about Mulan.

Thank you everyone. I think we will definitely be going. Just need to decide either breakfast or lunch. Thanks again.

My DW and I have lunch scheduled there for lunch one of our days :) I've never experienced any of the character dining..didn't know much about it until these boards!!

We had lunch there on the DDP and it was good. Interaction with the princesses was great...especially since Ariel was there (I know they can't guarantee princesses) who is DD's favorite. I didn't really care for the cold appetizer bar, but the entrees was good. th only dessert we liked was the schoool bread. I would do this again over CRT!!!

def do breakfast! everyone likes breakfast :) please check out the link to my TR, I just posted akeshurs stuff on there!

i have done both dinner and breakfast and hands down breakfast was the best. not that the food at dinner was bad, just not my taste. the breakfast was good and the characters were much pretty. dinner they seemed rushed.
we have went there the last 2 trips and this trip is no different. breakfast here we come...10 more days

We ate lunch there during our trip last Feb. The food was ok, not really my taste, but the princesses were fantastic. They interacted so much with all 3 of my kids - boys & girl! And they humored my goofy DH, who wanted pics with some of them. We didn't know Cinderella would be there, and DD was very excited to see her. This year, we're going back & doing a late lunch (10:20). We figure we'll have something light in our room before heading to the park, then breakfast will serve as a super-early lunch. A mid-afternoon snack will hold us till dinner that evening. princess:

In Feb 2008 we did 5 character meals including Akershus for breakfast. I would be willing to eat here again; however, we will probably skip it next time because we want to experience some other restaurants as well. I want to do no more than 3 repeats on the next trip, and I think this one would rank 4th on our list of potential repeats (behind CM, CP, and 1901 PF (Dinner)).

Our family includes some picky eaters so we purposely chose to do *breakfast* instead of lunch or dinner.

My recollections:

FOOD: I can't say that there was anything *extraordinary* about the food, but I liked it and it filled us up. [I'm a big guy so I know more about quantity than quality].

CHARACTER INTERACTION: It was pretty good. Several princesses with good interaction, and that's the reason we selected the restaurant.

OTHER:
* In my opinion the dining room was a little bit cramped (but perhaps that is part of the ambiance of the castle?).
* We had a gecko visit the wall/floor at our table. I thought it was cute, not sure if my wife agreed.
* We had ADRs and showed up at the proper time, but it seemed like it took them a long time to seat us. We waited longer to get seated here than at any other place.

I read something on allears.net saying the lunch is $30.99 for adults instead of $24.99. Could anybody confirm? Thanks.

Allears confirmed this for me today. "The new pricing for adults is $30.99 and $18.99 for ages 3 to 9."
(That is not including the holiday price differential at certain times a year.)
Last I checked they hadn't updated their site yet, but then again, they just found this out.

I had contacted them because I just switched from Breakfast to lunch partly based on the old, cheaper prices.
But it will still be worthwhile for us to be able to do FW earlier and eat more exotic foods. The breakfast menu looks terribly mundane to me. While in Norway, we want Norwegian food. :)

Diser's are great and I am so thankful for all of your replies informing us of your experiences. We went to 1900 PF last year and really enjoyed the food and character interactions! So anyone going there we hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Again thank you for responding to the thread. Looking forward to next year.

inkedupmomma- about to read your trip report excited because we will be at MNSSHP this year for 1st time.

DH and I ate there for dinner last fall and we LOVED it. Princesses were great and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. Oh, and we were paying OOP since we were not on the DDP last time and still thought it was worth it!

Ate there for dinner 2008 and was worried about the menu. We really enjoyed it - fun to be a bit adventurous. the princess interaction was amazing and the dessert were fabulous. we were on the ddp and now I know how much food you get - so trying a new type of restaurant is less scary - even if you HATE it you won't go hungry for long

Yes, you can request an order of pancakes for your picky eater (I've researched this! My DS will not eat eggs!) You have to ASK for them, they will not be offered to you.

Based on my picky eater, we decided to try lunch this trip. He'll eat more than at breakfast. The kids menu offers pizza or hotdogs w/corn, which I know he'll eat. They also have grilled chicken and raviolis on the kids menu.
