I have FINALLY completed my ADR's for our upcoming trip 11/8-11/14. This is our first trip to Disney and while I think I have us running from here to there, I still think we're going to have an AWESOME time.

I do, however, have slight hesitation about one ADR. I have dinner booked at Akershus for the princesses. My daughter's (DD9, DD3) LOVE Belle and Ariel. This seems to be the only character princess meal where they can see any other princess besides Cinderella.

I pulled up the menu this evening and now I'm not so sure. The food, according to the menu, doesnt "tempt my palate". Lamb? Leek? (what IS leek anyway?). I'm hoping beyond hope that this online menu is seriously shortened than what they really have to offer. Has anyone eaten at Akershus that can tell me some of the "regular" food (chicken? ham?) they have, if any. I'm afraid if the allears menu version is absolutely correct and the 5 entrees that we have to choose from range from Lamb to Cod, I may need to cancel the character meal that my kids are most looking forward to simply because no one in my family will eat anything on that menu.

Anyone give me insight into what there REALLY is to eat there?

I have a ADR for October. The menu looks great to me!! I'm British so Lamb and leek are not that unusual. Actually I would probably kill for good lamb, but that's beside the point!! I'm half Welsh, so it would be an abomination if I didn't like leeks!! (think large green onion, usually cooked, not quite as oniony but very good, well to me anyhow!!) When I first moved to US I could never find either.

Of course it's not going to be for everyone, but it is nice that they are trying to inject some authenticity in the menu. Don't get me started on the menu over at The Rose & Crown, at least recently they look like they've been trying!!

If it really doesn't appeal, have you thought about it for breakfast? That's pretty good, and way more "regular" I think it would be a pretty miserable experience if the food isn't for you. Better that you have checked the menu out now, than be unpleasantly surprised on the day.

Their official menu is here: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/dining/akershus/

For dinner, they have chicken, a pork chop, kjottkake (similar to Swedish meatballs, as I understand it), lamb stew, 2 types of fish, and a vegetarian pasta dish. Kids get chicken, spaghetti, pizza, or a hot dog.

Leeks are very similar to scallions or spring onions. I didn't know what they were either until my husband (who is from Scotland) wanted to have a Burns Night supper and was adamant that I had to make some version of cockaleekie soup (chicken and leek, get it?). We don't eat chicken but I made a wonderful leek and potato soup with cream cheese ... now I want some.

 We are going to Disney September 26 and we have dinner the first night at Akershus. I was so intent on getting the princess meals for my daughter that it never occured to me to look at the menu. I'm afraid to look now.

I have heard wonderful things about the character meal there. It is said to be much better than the one at Cinderella's Castle. Better food and better character interaction.

I would also be interested in a review from someone who has actually eaten there. How bad could it be??

Just looked at the menu and I'm pleasantly suprised. Looks yummy! Even the kids meals looked good. Grilled chicken breast for DD and hot dog for DS. I'm happy to see grilled chicken and not nuggets.

We have a reservation there, and I'm thrilled that the food isn't the same stuff you can get at any one of the other restaurants. Having lived in 3 countries outside the U.S. let me just say that there are some excellent cuisines out there that aren't common in the U.S. Try it! Who knows, you may just like it:)

Thats how I was... "oh boy... belle AND Ariel? We are SO there". Looking at the menu, I may be able stomach the pork chop or the grilled chicken. I'm not really a "orange glazed mustard salmon roasted in marshmallow sauce" kinda gal lol. Slap a steak on a grill, flip it twice, and I'm good to go LOL. UGH.... confusion on what to do. Like you, I would LOVE to hear reviews from someone with a picky palate like myself who really isnt into all the international cuisine. Im still thinking seeing those princesses might be worth it, but I'm dreading this ADR already.

My Advice is to try and get Breakfast! Thats the only way me and my 3 yr old Prince will go to PSB, The lunch and dinner features seem so blah! I think that WDW really needs to rethink this one and the only reason people go to lunch and dinner is for the princesses I bet if the ladies were not there PSB would be in the category with San Angel and Marakash! I must say that regardless of the menu your children will have a good time, and the free photo is a great bonus!

Please promise you won't ruin my dinner there by spending the whole meal complaining the food is too weird. I hate it when I go to an ethnic restaurant and am trying to enjoy my dinner and have to listen to people saying "There's tofu in this? That's SO WEIRD! How can people eat like that?!"

We ate there last year, and did not like the adult entrees that
we got. I had the pork dish and it was so so, too rich and not to my
taste. It could have been because I
enjoyed the salad bar so much. My
daughter had beef dish, and it wasn't
good at all. The child's grilled chicken
meal was the best. I would go back
again, just for the picture package
and meeting the princesses. It was
the highlight of our trip for my 3 yr
old grandaughter. I would definitely
go and have fun

Go to allears dot net and click on rate & reviews you can read the reviews for PSB great info!

We have been to WDW the last 3 years in a row and have been to akerhouse the last 3 years in a row. I have had something different each time and have loved everything. I particularly like the traditional norwegian buffet which allows you to try things you might never get elswhere.

Take a chance on it. The meatballs are especiall good. And there is a chicken breast entree. Mahi Mahi is wonderful, and the lamb stew as well.

We ate lunch there in April. I booked it for the princess experience for DD even though the menu didn't make my mouth water. I was so pleasantly surprised at how tasty everything was. It was one of our favorite meals over 8 days. Even if you don't absolutely LOVE the entrees (which you may even if you don't think you will) there is plenty of great food on the buffet -- salads, shrimp, pasta, fruit, etc. I also recall really enjoying the soup served at the table.

We have the PSB booked also. Never been there but I have to say this is one of the ADR's DH and I are most looking forward to...and not just for the princesses. When we first looked into staying on-site and getting Free Dining, DH and I wanted to be sure the only food we would be fed for 10 days wasn't going to be limited to burgers, hot dogs and chicken. Our young kiddos (2 & 3) are very open to trying new foods so we're looking forward to the chance to expose them to other cuisines. I say try it... it seemed like there are some plain jane American choices and you never know, it may end up being your favorite place :goodvibes

I had AKershus booked for lunch a week or so ago...then, came very close to canceling it. But we kept it, and I'm thrilled that we did. My youngest dd, 15, was able to have the kids pizza, in fact our server told her that if she wanted another pizza, just ask. My eldest dd, 33, had a pulled pork bbq type sandwich..which she raved about. Said it was one of the best she had. I had the chicken breast and it was very nice. All in all....something for each person. I like the lunch menu better than the dinner menu though.

we have eaten there numerous times and have found the meals to be great... we have been for breakfast, lunch and dinner..... some of it may sound weird but it is all really tasty!!

We ate there, and really didn't care for the food, but the princess interaction was priceless. Not that the food was inedible by any means and with the cold bar, we did not come out hungry. It was just not to our tastes. However, my DD loves Aurora and Ariel and both were there. Plus Belle in the yellow ball gown. We also had Cinderella and Jamine. And never had to wait in line for a princess for the rest of the week. That in itself made the meal worthwhile.

We did a late lunch there in May and found menu choices we all liked, plus as mentioned above you have a salad bar which is also included. Belle is the hostess at Akershus and you are guarenteed at least 3 other princesses. In addition to Belle we had Cinderella, Ariel, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. Our granddaughters loved it.

We went for lunch last October, I went expecting to come out hungry and to have to order CS burgers for everyone. I ordered the Traditional Kjottkake and it was the best mashed potatoes and meatloaf I ever had! My girls who were 15 and 16 at the time asked if they could order from the kids menu and it was no problem. Our server put in a double order for them so they would have enough to eat. One ordered pizza and got two, the other order ravioli and got a huge plate of mickey head ravioli. I will say though that the princess interaction is worth this even if you don't like the menu. I would definitely go!

But, I am not adventourous to begin with.

Kids menus are fine (my little princess was really sick that night (didn't make for great pics!)...but, her cousins loved seeing all the princesses...they ate their meals and were fine.

My brother had a stew that he said was tasty.

Hope this helps.
