Akershus for Dinner??

You know, the only time I ever read about Restaurant Akershus is when people talk about the Princess Breakfast there...which gets mixed reviews.
But just looking at their DINNER menu (http://allearsnet.com/menu/menu_nor.htm)
it looks pretty tempting!
Would love to hear from people who have visited here.

Akershus was always pretty memorable for us, until they changed the buffet style. The last time we went was December 2003, but the buffet was then all cold food. If you want any of the hot food items, you have to order it and they bring it out to you. I wasn't too thrilled with the half-sit down/half-buffet style (for me, it's one or the other), and the hot item portions were pretty good, almost entree size, if I remember correctly. Which is great, except I like to sample at buffets, and I couldn't really do that with this buffet. We still like it, but may not be one of our "must-dos" anymore.

That being said, if you look at the menu and figure that you'll only want to get one or two of the hot items anyway, then this buffet style won't bother you.

The food is good - we are seafood types, and we like the cold buffet a lot. If you're unsure, you might want to consider lunch.

We ate there in april. I did a dining review. We always go for either lunch or dinner on our trip. Lunch is cheaper and the entrees are different. This time we did dinner. DH got the trio sausages and said they were very good. He also got the salmon and I shared a little with him. I had the chicken and we shared the viking favorites. For dessert we shared the mouse and the berry tart. He proudly proclaimed he ate every kind of herring that was on the cold buffet. We have been to norway and the food at akershus is very authentic.
