We will be on the dining plan and knowing that CRT is 2 TS credits. Which is better. Seeing Cinderella would be great but not a must for dd.Her must see is Ariel so I know where to find her but for a princess meal which is better? Oh for breakfast(the norweigen food scares me:scared1: )TIA

We really preferred the atmosphere of the castle and our meal there (lunch). It seemed a whole lot calmer and less crowded. Akershus was a madhouse with kids screaming so much that I almost lost my mind (and I think I'm fairly patient). Of course, that was only one experience at each - I'm sure others have had good experiences at Akershus with quieter kids...

This time we're doing an early breakfast at CRT before the park opens. We'll plan to finish in time to be at the rope drop in Fantasyland - that worked out really well for us last time.

I thought if we did CRT that we would be there to be at ropedrop. I want to get through as much a s I can at Fantasyland before the madness ensues!

We hated Akershus and vowed never to return :rotfl:

Of course you'll get different opinions, but that's mine :rotfl:

We did it for the first time for breakfast in 12/04. Not too bad but SOOOOOOOOOO crowded and crazy. The food was decent and princess interaction was fine.

Tried it for dinner 10/06. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck. Had a hard time finding something on the menu and then when I did order the chicken/pasta dish, it wasn't really that great :( I hate seafood and pork so it was quite limited. When we checked in, there must have been literally over 80 people around the podium. One guest was cracking me up when she was cutting in front of everyone to get to the podium and kept blurting out "I have reservations! You have to let me through because I have reservations to eat here! I take priority since I have reservations!" :rotfl: :rotfl: Apparently she wasn't aware that everyone else had reservations too :rotfl: :rotfl:

We got seated in this very cramped location where we had to suck our stomachs in so that our chairs wouldn't be in the way of people passing by or the tables behind us.... the princesses always "forgot" to stop at our table as it was in a bad location so I had to keep getting up to ask them to come back since once they left that room, they were gone for at least an hour with the way they circulate....

Did I mention the food? :scared: :rolleyes1

We ate @ CRT for a late breakfast last year for the first time. It honestly was the most magical dining experience we've had :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes Can't wait to do it again this upcoming trip!!!

We are doing both this upcoming trip in August. Based on what i had read on the board, I booked an ADR for Akershus at 8:35 am - hoping that there would not be a large crowd and I have read the breakfast is a better meal than dinner ( familiar food wise). Since I have a son and a daughter we are going to eat in the castle for dinner - I know that it is 2 TS but cannot miss the opportunity to dine in Cinderella's castle at night. While I have read that the food is hit or miss - how can you not do this once?We have a late 8:30 pm reservation and thought this would be a good way to keep the kids up for Wishes after the meal.

Well that's a very strong opinion!:rotfl: But just the info I wanted. Afriend of mine ate there and liked and mentioned it to us last night. I've been kicking these 2 places back and forth for sometime so I wanted some other opinions. Thanks

I really think that if you have never done CRT, you should try it. We have done it twice for breakfast. Once when our middle DD was 4, and then this past January for DD3. To be totally honest, the last time I felt that we were really rushed.....from the time you go in for your picture to the time you leave. The princesses did not spend much time at our table & one of them did not even acknowledge our older two daughters (10 & 12). Our next trip we are going to try Akershus for breakfast. I know it might be crazy, but I would rather give up 1TS & have it be crazy than give up 2TS & be rushed. But, like I said......I think people should try it if you never have, just for the experience of being inside the castle.

I thought that Ariel didn't appear at CRT, since she was busy across FantasyLand at her grotto?

If your DDs must see is Ariel she is not at CRT. We are going to the Dinner at Akershus in hopes that Ariel will be there. I was told it's not set in stone that she is ALWAYS there, but more likely than not. I'm hoping for my DD6 sake that she is there, because she really wants to see her in her dress and with her 'legs'!:goodvibes

We've thought about taking DD to Akershus, but haven't decided. If it was a close toss-up, I'd try Akershus and save the extra TS. :)

I think that the OP was just saying that she knew where to find Ariel (i.e. her grott), so it didn't matter where she ate (since Ariel wouldn't be at either). :)

We had dinner at Akershus last month. My DD6 loved it! For the picture they take it was Belle in her yellow dress. She also saw Ariel, Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.

I know I am going to be in the minority here, but the food was good. We found this trip (except for Le Cellier) the food in general was just o.k., Akershus was one of our better meals. We did not eat too much off the cold buffet which had more Norwegian foods, but the entrees we had were very good. The restaurant was full as was everywhere else we ate, but it wasn't crazy at all.

Since it is still just one TS and you get the pictures, I think it's a great value on the DDP. If it is still one TS next year we will be back for sure!:thumbsup2

Do you get the pictures or have to pay extra for them if you decide you want to purchase them? Just curious since we will be eating there on our next trip.

you took the words out my mouth. We have the same things happen to us in May... I had the same things with the princess happen to us and our DD is 2!! I was disappointed and when I asked Belle to take another pic cuase the ONE I had my DD eyes were shut she huffed and rolled her eyes.

On the other hand we went to Akershus and had a GREAT time. Everything was so quite and slow.... no Cinderella but that was OK...

Thanks! That's exactly what I meant.I've heard I have a shot of seeing Ariel with her "legs" at Akerhus though.

If your trip is in 2008 the picture package is included in the price, or if on the DDP as part of your 1 TS credit. I'm hoping things don't change for 2009! Here is the picture from our package, (it was plain, without Tinkerbell, I embellished it on my PhotoPass CD). I was very pleased!

GatorLady-

I'm with you....I hope they don't change things for 2009! That picture is precious!! :)

CRT was the most amazing dining experience we had at WDW. Just the experience of being inside the castle to have a meal was worth it. It is truly special and the photography package is really a nice bonus. Many different princesses make their rounds. It is a lot of fun and the food is great!

Would you mind sharing what the adults ordered, and what your daughter ordered? We'll be eating there in Spetember.

Elizabeth -

We (adults) actually ended up ordering the same thing. It was the Kjottkake which was very similar to a meatloaf. It came with fresh veggies and mashed potatoes. My daughter ordered the pizza from the kids menu. She really liked it. We enjoyed the desert plate (it's like a sampler) as well. Everyone likes different things, we had a great experience. Hope you do too in September!:goodvibes

We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at Akershus! It was very relaxed - not a madhouse at all. (We did get to see Ariel) The food was very good and the princesses were very charming. We are doing this one again in December.

We haven't done CRT yet - we are also doing that for breakfast in December.
