AK Touring question

So I've read all over these boards and still can't decide how to schedule my AK FPs.

We are a party of 4, staying onsite in late July. Our AK day is our last (day 7) so I am fairly hopeful I will have a decent chance of finding morning FOP FP. We plan to stay all day, though we will almost certain not make rope drop. My kids are in their teens so they like all the "big" rides. And we like the safari and shows as well.

So....do I schedule FOP in the morning, along with Safari and Kali, and then hope to find 4th/5th/6th FP for things like Dinosaur, EE, and Primeval Whirl (we could plan to ride EE single rider later) and then ride NRJ close to closing?

OR... do I schedule FP later, say after 12:00 or 1:00 and ride most of the other rides in the am (probably during the 2nd and 3rd hour of park opening) when hopefully standby lines are still manageable as others are still in Pandora?

Any thoughts or experiences shared would be greatly appreciated!

I’d say to get the FoP FP+ whenever you can get it! My FP for Feb (60+5) was at 5:00 PM.

Earliest you can get it is probably best, but don’t sweat it if it’s later in the day. Just get on that ride!!

Be prepared that you may not be able to get your FOP fast pass in the morning or maybe even at all. If you don’t, your best bet would be to rope drop it. Arrive at the park about an hour before opening and head straight there for your best bet at not having a huge line. We had a PPO Reservation at Tusker House and rope dropped EE, and we were the first in line. Being that your going in July, it’ll be very crowded and hot, if it was me I’d RD and take an afternoon break to escape the heat. And FP whatever things Are most important to you.

You will need to snatch any available FP for Flights of Passage of youstand any chance of getting on the ride without a 2.5 hour wait. Expedition Everest is less crowded in the morning as most people take the safari early while the animals are all out and about.

Absolutely! But I am hopeful to have a couple options as our AK day is on day 7....time will tell!

Thanks! But unfortunately no rope drop for us. It’s especially hard with teenagers and coming from the west coast.

We did rope drop last week, but we also found that after watching the night time show, Rivers of Light, most everyone left the park from there or headed elsewhere, and EE was a 5-minute wait for stand-by. So if you can't do rope drop for bigger rides like EE and Dinosaur, do them late near closing (when teenagers are up lol). Even the safari was running near the end of the day with a 25-minute stand-by (although it might have been much less busy during Rivers of Light). I can't speak for anything in Pandora as we avoided that area this trip, other than walking through part of it.

Honestly, don't bank on getting those FOP Fastpasses! Plan your day as if you have to wait in line. It's worth whatever wait time there is! You really don't need a fastpass for everything if you plan it right. Like, at night you don't need a fastpass for Dinosaur at all. It's usually a walk on, same with Everest and Primeval Whirl. Try not to think too far ahead, because once you go to book those FPs things will change a lot!
