We are going in April with our 3 kids 10, 8, and almost 3. We are only going to be there a few full days(2 of the days are interrupted by travel) We plan to focus mostly on MK but want to see Ak.The only problem is we are trying to squeeze Ak in later in the afternoon one day about 2:30 or 3. (park closes at 6) I know this is a stop and smell the roses park but is it possible to see these attractions in this little time?
  • Safari
    bug show
    lion king show
    dinosaur

what order would you do? thanks

We did AK in February and arrived about noon. We stayed until the parks closed at 5.
Fast pass will be up and running. Have someone to get a fast pass for the safari because that was our biggest wait.

Well I have done the same thing that you are trying to do. Last Sept My Dh and I were on vacation and my mother came up for a day. By the time she got there it was already late in the afternoon. We decieded to go into the park anyway because my mom had not been there yet .That day the park closed at 5, the guy at the ticket desk even suggested we don't buy the ticket lol , but we did. We completed all the major attractions like Kilimanjaro , Dinosaur,It's Tough to be a bug, Kali, and Primevil Whirl in less than 2 hours. We even had icecream and took a few pics. It was definatly not leasurely but we did it.So if you really want to see it you can do it. Just plan ahead on what attractions are must sees and take into considoration the childrens ages. You're 3 year old might not want to be on the Dinosaur ride. You're older ones can go on with one parent and the other can take the little one on triceratop spin in dinoland etc. Hope this helps.

Order
-when you get in the park check showtime for Lion King
-get a fast pass for safari
-go to camp minnie mickey and take pics with characters while waiting for FOTLK
-then use you FP on the safari
-then go to dino land on the way out as it is next to the exit

thanks skylarr, I guess I forgot to mention my 3 year old won't be going on Dinosaur! I don't want to go on either it looks to scary for me as Iam a chicken! Thats a good idea to take her on the little rides while they are doing Dinosaur Thanks!

We did Safari, Dinasour, and Bug Show, in the last hour on one of our visits before WDW started the FP system. We entered the Bug Show right at closing time and it was the last show of the day. We did Tarzon just prior to those 3. Many guests leave the AK in the mid- to late afternoon since they can experience most of the park by then if they arrive in the morning; there isn't anything to draw them back in in the evening. MGM used to be this way before Fantasmic.

One thing I would add to the plan Skylar29 suggested is that if the time works out, I'd pick up FP's for the Bug Show or Dinasour after leaving the Lion King and before using the FP on the Safari. It takes some extra walking for someone to go gather the FP's, but for us it has been worthwhile. The standby lines may be short during the last hour, but it doesn't take too much energy to get a FP just in case.

One other thing. The shows you picked are literally on opposite ends of the AK world from each other.

Safari - All the way in the back on the left
bug show - In the middle
lion king show - front left
dinosaur - front right

Luckily crossing this park isn't like crossing EPCOT. However, be prepared for a bunch of walking. (especially if you are going to run around, get fastpasses, and come back) I'd make sure you have an umbrella stroller for your little one. (AKs walkways are comparitively narrow.)

If you can fit it in, I'd do Flight of Wonder. It is wonderful! (Of course it is half way between Africa and Asia! lol

Please keep in mind, depending upon how busy the park is when you visit, there is always a possibility of the Safari FP's being all distributed for the day, as this does happen sometimes. Just wanted to mention it, so that you might have a backup plan and avoid disappointment.

Having been going to disney for 9 years in a row i would suggest you go to animal kingdom around closing time. It is at that time that the lines are shortest and every animal is out on the safari. I hope you enjoy your trip and try and go near closing because magic is open later so you still have time to go the after Ak.

Fastpasses for the safari were all gone by 3 PM one year in March. Definitely grab those first.
