AK too hot to handle

It may be the humidity that makes it seem hotter. I asked around about this the last time we were there. That was the response. With the amount of foliage it traps in the humidity. Also it isn't as open as the other parks. The walkways aren't as large and they are surrounded by trees, shrubs, etc.

DH and I both remain dumbfounded that most everyone else finds it hotter there.
We both find it cooler with all the shade from the foliage.
If any park is hotter than another, to us, it's Epcot, hands down. Talk about concrete jungle, you get the heat from the sun above and the baked concrete below.

Without a doubt, AK feels significantly hotter during the midday than any other park. I have no idea why either. Maybe some of it does have to do with less cool places to hide, but not sure that's really it. To me, AK also requires a lot more walking around than the other parks, which makes you get hotter. Whatever the reason is, it's noticeable to us for sure.

I really don't notice a huge difference between the 3 other parks.

We typically go in August, so it's hot every where. But, I agree, AK always seems to be the worse one. Especially in Africa, so sticky!

The black asphalt in DinoLand is an epic design fail, IMHO. Ditto to the humidity, foliage, and less air-conditioned areas.

It always feels hotter than the other parks. More foliage so the humidity feels greater, less stores and rides to get some A/C and get out the heat, further walking to where you want to go
Sounds about right...makes sense

I don't know where he got his info (or if it is true) but a CM at AK once told us the temperature is on average 10 degree higher in that park than the others.

I think DHS is the hottest park. It's surrounded by large buildings and walls trapping the heat. AK is cooler than most parks, with all the shade it's wonderful on a hot summer day.

I agree! The heat gets to me the worst at the Studios. Too much concrete, I think.

My hubby and I agree with this 100%

AK is, by design, 10-15 degrees hotter. It was built that way. The foliage provides shade but also increases humidity, which helps to maintain the environment for the animals.

I've also heard that AK is built in a sort of bowl, lower than everything surrounding it. It's the hottest when it's hot and coolest when it's cool
