I asked this on the Restaurant board but wanted to post here as well ...

We're planning a day in Animal Kingdom topped off with the 7:15 show at Hoop De Doo in Ft. Wilderness.

We are staying off-site and will have our own car. My father is somewhat mobility impaired and will have a rental scooter for the parks (renting from off-site agency so we will have 24/7).

I'm thinking about our travel between AK and HDDR. I know that once at Ft. Wilderness, you have to park at the gate and take internal buses to the HDDR site. We don't plan to use the scooter while at Ft. Wilderness, but I am worried about any steps or prolonged walking my dad might have to do for a bus. How long timewise is the bus ride to HDDR from the front of Fort Wilderness?

Would boat transportation from another resort or MK be any better than parking at the Ft Wilderness entrance and taking the internal buses? Just trying to think of the least stressful way to get there. Maybe I'm making it far too complicated.

Peace :hippie:

Ref: boats - The only way you'll be able to use WDW Watercraft transportation to get to the HDDR with a scooter is to go to the MK and take one of the Green flag motor crusiers from there to the FWC. The smaller motor launches serving the WL, CR and FWC on Bay Lake cannot accommodate ECVs under any circumstances.

The walk to HDDR from the boat dock or the bus stop are about the same, so take your car. There are two entrances to the FW parking lot, the one for HDDR has no guard gate but is at the far end of the lot, the main lot does require you to go through the guard gate but would allow you to park a few feet closer to the bus depot, if you can find a space. The two lots really are just one with posts separating them, so you could still drop off at the posts ans shorten the walk for people and then park. As for the bus ride, it could be a short 5 min or 15 min depending on how many people get on/off at the stops between Outpost(where you parked) and Settlement(where the show is). The yellow internal bus will probably be fastest with the orange being longest, purple in the middle. That said if yellow just left take the next internal bus.

The HDDR does have steps, if that is a problem there is a ramp that goes into Trails End and a door from TE to HDDR, if you need to use this, let the CM know when you check in.
HDDR restrooms are outside and on the opposite side of the building of the ramp, so plan accordingly.
