AK Rope Drop...FOP even with Fastpass later?

We are heading there the first week of December and will only be at AK for one day. I managed to land a Fastpass for FOP that day at 10am. We plan on being at the park for rope drop that day. Would it make sense to rope drop FOP so that we can ride it twice or just head to Na'vi for rope drop?

Would it also be possible to rope drop FOP and then fit in Na'vi before the FOP FP at 10am?

I'm not doing FOP RD. It sounds way too insane. Instead we will get an additional ride by going right before close. We did get FP for it on two separate days so I hope to ride it 3 times. Maybe 4.

What are you estimating your wait time will be before close?

If you can get everyone up and be AT the gates of AK 45 min to an hour BEFORE official opening, then I would do FoP then Na'vi then your FP+. You'll have plenty of time to do the two before your FP, but only if you're AT THE GATES 45 min - 1 hr before opening to put yourselves toward the front of the crowd.

FOP is definitely worth 2 rides so if getting your family to RD is part of your plan anyway I would go on FOP first, then Navi and then ride FOP with your FP. We were in the standby line for FOP by 8:30 this past Sunday when the park was scheduled to open at 9:00. We rode FOP and then Navi and were on our way out of Pandora before 10:00 so you should have plenty of time before your FP window closes. The standby line was daunting when we first arrived but it moved quickly.

Thanks. I'll discuss that option with my wife to see if she's willing to make it an extra early morning.

I didn't realize rope drop was one hour before rope drop before I made those comments...lol. I'll still most likely give it a try because everything I've been reading points towards FOP being the best ride at Disney right now.

Interesting. I wasn't aware you could do this. Thanks for the tip. I might give that a try when I go.

The line is considerably shorter at closing time than it is in the morning. Just keep in mind that posted wait times are intentionally exaggerated at night to discourage late riders. We learned about Disney’s late night protocols in the 1999 Unofficial Guide so its nothing new.

The shortest actual wait i’ve seen for FOP was 17 minutes a few weeks ago.

We did FOP at closing on Saturday. We waited about an hour and 10 mins. The time on the board was 150 mins. The actual time was much shorter than we saw all day so I think it was worth it but we def had a longer time than others have reported at closing. Not sure if Saturday made a difference.
