Rented points from a DVc member. I am booked for a SV studio. Any recommendations on where we should request? Close to the pool, lobby, restaurants?

savannah or standard.

would definitely go for Jambo House over Kidani - all the standard are pool view there.

kidani - they are parking lot, garden

Spicey,
I am booked for a Savanah view.
Thanks,
Dean

then you need to ask which savannah.

don't think any savannah rooms are near the lobby or pool or restuarant.

those at Jambo house - are standard or value rooms.

good luck!!!

Where you request depends on which location you are booked - Jambo or Kidani. I haven't stayed at Jambo yet. At Kidani, I would request c room close to the lobby. ANy more than three beads out from the lobby you are going to have some longer walks. Requesting close to the pool will not get you to the pool faster since you must walk out the front door to get to the pool.

Dzone,

You need to let folks here know if your room is booked at Jambo (The main AKL) or at Kidani Village. The person that booked you through DVC points should know this.

I just recently booked for DVC in October, and I was thinking of posting a similiar question...we are booked in Jambo house, and Savannah View Studio. Any recommendations posted would help me out as well!

Also, if you are booked DVC, how do you call in room requests?

would definitely go for Jambo House over Kidani - all the standard are pool view there.

kidani - they are parking lot, garden

Jambo House Standard View regular rooms and DVC villas consist of parking lot, front drive, porte cochere, bus stop, partially obstructed pool view, and partially obstructed savanna view rooms.
Kidani Village Standard View DVC villas can consist of parking lot, front drive, porte cochere, bus stop, and pool view rooms.

Bumping to hope for an answer to OP question...where to put in the request for a Savannah View room.

And the answer is still "We can't tell you until you tell us whether you're staying at Jambo House or Kidani Village."

OK...I can't claim where OP is...but I am staying at Jambo House, so that's the answer I would like to hear, please.

OK...I can't claim where OP is...but I am staying at Jambo House, so that's the answer I would like to hear, please.

So you're hijacking the OP's thread to get your question answered? Wouldn't have been better to ASK for yourself instead of hiding it by "bumping to hope for an answer to OP question...where to put in the request for a Savannah View room"? when the OP hasn't checked back and stated which building that they were going to be at?

Hrmn, I kinda find that a bit rude. Anyhow, I'll bite anyways...

Jambo House has three savannas. Sunset is the main savanna that's between Jambo House and Kidani Village. Arusha used to be the main savanna and is mostly surrounded by Jambo House. Uzima which is the smaller savanna.

Sunset is larger with more animals. Arusha is smaller but you can pretty much see the entire savanna from your balcony instead of a section of it like you can do with Uzima and Sunset. Uzima is great because you get a savanna view, but you get really great access to everything that's down on the 1st floor (pool/spas, fitness center, restaurants). There are advantages and disadvantages with all three savannas. There is no "best place to put in a request" because none of us know you or what is important to you.

Oh yah, if the OP is booked through another member (renting points). They cannot call Member Services AT ALL... which means that the member who they rented from will have to put in all requests for them.

All right, I admit I hijacked the thread...sort of...but I was really asking the same question as the OP...only I was able to answer the more specific question that he was asked.

Would it make more sense to start another thread which asked the same question? I didn't think so. There's a 50-50 chance the question I asked also answers the OP post.

Well, thanks for answering my question, even if you thought I was rude!

So excited up my upcoming stay at AKL...did lot's of research. I copied and pasted lot's of info from different sites into a word document. Find this below in no particular order. Hope it helps irregardless of who asked.;)

There are three different savannas at AKL—Sunset, Arusha, and Uzima. Though you'll find lots of differing views as to which floor you should request for the best view of the animals, we like the third floor--it gives you a high enough view that you can see the whole savanna, but you're not so high that you don't feel close to the animals.
We also like the Arusha savanna because it gives us a backdrop view of the beautiful lobby’s picture window. The Arusha savanna is also the hotel’s “main” savanna, located right off the lobby; because of this, you can be assured that there will always be a wide variety of animals on this savanna. It can, however, be the savanna that offers the least privacy—at any given time hotel visitors will be oohing and aahing over animals at the public viewing areas, most of which look out onto the Arusha savanna.
Sunset Savanna is to the left of the Lodge, and will soon be the shared savanna with Kidani Village, AKL's separate Disney Vacation Club building. Sunset is where you get the best sunset views (natch), and also remains the only savanna on which you can find ostriches.
Uzima Savanna is on the far right side of the hotel--the same side as the Uzima Springs Pool and all of AKL's restaurants. We like rooms on the Uzima Savanna because you're usually just a hop, skip, and jump from the pool (and the flamingos!).
Hi Simone! I would recommend that you request accommodations viewing the Uzima Savanna. Giraffe, Impala, Kudu, Bongo, Blesbok and Thompsons Gazelles can be found in this savanna. You will also be in closer proximity to the pool.

Which Savannah room numbers at the Animal Kingdom Lodge have the best view of animals?
-I'm partial to the Kudu Trail and Zebra Trail rooms, especially rooms on the third and fourth floor (closest to see the animals). These room locations afford the largest views of the savannah area. Within the Zebra Trail guest rooms, room numbers *423 -*437 and *501-*515 are what I'd request. The * is for the floor; a second floor room would begin with a 2 and so on. In the Kudo Trail, I like room numbers *226-*241 and **301 - *315.

To try to summarize this, in my room request I'd say I'd like a room within the range of 3423-3437, 4423-4437, 3501-3515, 4501-4515 on the Zebra Trail. On the Kudo Trail I'd like room wtihin the range of 3226-3241, 4226-4241, 3301-3315, 4301-4315. With a broad range of rooms like this, you have more chances of having your request made.

Where the rooms face:
Animal Location
There are 3, 11 acre savannahs at AK Lodge. Sunset Savannah, Arusha Savannah and Uzima Savannah. Each savannah has it's own set of wildlife and hoofstock as follows:

Sunset Savannah: Male Giraffe, Bongo, Impala, Thompsons Gazelles, Ostrich, Ankole Cattle, Waterbuck, African crown cranes, stork and blue cranes.

Arusha Savannah: Pelicans, geese, giraffe, ankole cattle, zebra, Wildebeast, eland, gemsbok

Uzima Savannah: Giraffe, Impala, Kudu, Bongo, Blesbok, Thompsons Gazelles

Where the rooms face:

Zebra trail rooms overlook the Arusha savannah (odd number rooms) and the Uzima Savannah (even number rooms). Kudu trail rooms overlook Arusha Savannah (odd number rooms) or Sunset Savannah (even number rooms). Even numbered rooms in Ostrich Trail will overlook Sunset Savannah, while the odd number rooms overlook the valet area. On Giraffe Trail, the even number rooms will overlook the pool, while the odd number rooms overlook the valet area.

TIP: For an amazing view of the animals near their feeding area, choose rooms (on any floor, even number rooms only) from X572 through X584 (where X is the floor number). Also, odd numbered rooms X541 through X555 have a similar view. These rooms wrap around the feeding area, and provided us an AWESOME view of the giraffe and Tommies (Thompsons gazelles). If you follow Zebra trail to the end, and go to the outside stairwell, you can get a fantastic view of this area as well (4th floor is ideal). There are also savannah viewing areas on the 2nd floor of Zebra trail at the 'elbows' of each section.

If you are looking for animals here are some tips, most books suggest booking a savanah view on the inner savanah called Arusha, thats what we did but there are only 2 giraffes in that savanah, the Uzima savanah has 4 giraffes so if you want giraffes take note.

I stayed on the concierge level of the Animal Kingdom Lodge a few months ago. We were surprised that only half of the rooms have views of the savannah. The other half have views of the pool. The concierge area is not very big and is only in the center of the resort. If you want the best view of animal's from your room, its best to stay in a regular room as far from the center of the resort as possible.

The benefits of the concierge level are wonderful. We did the Sunrise Safari during our last trip and loved it. We are going back again in 2010 and staying on the club level again. Its really a great way to enjoy WDW.

We've enjoyed the evening story telling by the Arusha Rock Fire Pit and the night time viewing of animals with night vision goggles. If you'd really like to go all out and happen to be concierge guests, you could do either the Sunset Safari or Sunrise Safari. There is an additional cost (as of 3/2010 the Sunset Safari is $170 for adults) for these, but they provide chances to experience the animals in a more intimate manner followed by either breakfast or lunch or dinner.

Oh wow!!!! I am staying in Jambo Stn view in Aug. I didnt know they were all pool views. :confused3
