AK plan ... Why is that par so hard to plan?

I don't know how long you will be there but AK used to be thought of as a half day park by some people however I could never get it all done in one day. I love that park so much - just love smelling the roses - watching for all the special theming extras that make it so real like the murals on the ruined walls on the Asia animal trail or the prayer flags. I never miss the animal trails - I think they are such a big part of what is good there. I go to the bird show and laugh myself silly and duck the flying birds... See the shows. Ride safari as many times as I can. See tough as a Bug and the Lion King. Now with the night-time show which is excellent and the two Pandora rides, My 11 year old grand who travels with me to WDEW a couple of times each year have planned 3 1/days out of 7 on our upcoming trip Aug 8!!!!

I think we will take more time this trip. I always think its a quick park but you're right theres so many things that we don't take the time to see. Last trip it was so HOT so we just rushed through everything. We are going in Feb so hopefully we'll have pleasant weather!!!

I'm not sure I ever want to ride PW. It's miserable.

And EE is any better? The backwards part is the worst experience on any ride I've been on.

OP what about dinosaur and the rapids? Are you skipping those?

Well we are going in Feb and unless its over 80 degrees I don't want to be soaked and I'm praying its not over 80. I really would like enjoyable weather this time. We've gone in the miserable heat and a December where it was 40 the whole time. My daughter and I loved Kali last time but I'll be happy to skip if were not hot ha. Dinosaur I am not sure. My DD went on it when she was 5 and dint like it at all and I've heard it was intense. But she goes on ALL the roller coasters at Disney. I think my 5 year old boy would like it if its not to scary? He loves Dinos and my kids typically don't scare easy.

Don't skip the Nemo musical. That's my favorite. I don't know why that doesn't get more love on these boards. The songs are actually really good...Go With the Flow...oooh, ohh....ohhhh, ohhhh, ohhh....

I feel like Dinosaur is scary because dinosaurs jump out at you. The Jeep you're in goes down small hills and moves erratically, but I feel like it would be okay for your children, especially knowing they ride the other Disney coasters.

I can close my eyes on the backwards EE portion, but no amount of eye closure helps me on PW.

We've never watched that one. We always do Lion King. I think bc Nemo is longer I haven't wanted to do that. But maybe next time we'll try it.

Because it is a big park that has very few attractions that you wait in a queue for (even after adding two more rides) .. AND because they unfortunately added tiering to the park

So Im just trying to get an idea of what we'll be doing for our Feb trip. I plan on doing a half day or so at AK. We will get there at Rope drop well prior so were close to up front. I want to FP FOP and Na'vi river. For obvious reasons. Now that only leaves 1 more FP to choose from. Do we do Safari or EE. There is 4 of us. My son will not be tall enough for EE. Now the problem with all this is both are on opposite sides of the park so we'll have to do which ever one we don't FP first thing correct? To avoid waiting in long lines? I feel like going to either one just puts us at a weird spot to then start touring after? Suggestions?

FP for Na'vi OR FOP, you can't do both.

I wouldn't bother with a FP for EE, it's faster to use the single rider line. Just have one person wait with him while the others get in the single rider line, then as soon as the first person comes out, switch who is waiting with the child.

I re looked and its 44'' which means my son can go on it But even if he couldn't my daughter will be 9. Im not gonna have her go by herself on that ride. I'll FP whatever Pandora ride I can and then Safari and EE.

I could only get an evening FoP FP at 60 days. Still checking to try to move it up but it's messing with my plans.

So is the consensus that it's just way too hot there to spend the full day even with shows and drinks?

Last two trips we have gone in Sept and spent two days at AK from opening to around 5pm. We haven't even seen everything! Next trip I really want to see Flights of Wonder. I definitely think you can happily spend a full day there until and evening FP.

We did not find the heat to be a problem. it is true that the park is big, and that if you are rushing from one big ride to another to another it would be very easy to get over heated.

However, if you take your time and visit the animal trails and other smaller attractions, almost all of which are well shaded, then the size and heat isn't a problem at all.

That is probably why it has always been a two day park for us. There is a whole lot to see and it takes time.

We have in the past which was great. But this time the only thing he can't ride is Rock N Roller Coaster and Prieval Whirl!

I really don't know how Im going to plan this day. I guess I can't really until I know which Fast passes I score for Pandora. I was really thinking it would be a half day but I don't think so anymore!! Which is OK. February is too far away.
