When we have been on the Safari (loose term), the animals are always just laying around. This is typical as the animals are nocturnal. I would love to see a special night safari. One where you can see the animals moving around.

I also have a question: Do the predators get live animals for food? Or is it prepared food?

You should check out the Animal Kingdom behind the scenes park tour! Very cool, and I think there's a discount for DVC members.

An after dark Kilimanjaro Safari would be great, but the animals do return to their barns for much of the later part of the night - most of the big ones, anyway.

The predators are fed prepared meats - wouldn't want them to develop a habit of chasing their safari-mates!

If you're asking about the AK, there most of the animals spend their nights inside the buildings where they are fed and have health checks.

We had the Sunrise safari at AK last month, and this happens first thing in the morning as the animals are being let out to the savannah. There was lots of movement interaction then.

PS. At AKL, I've done the night vision twice. Once there wasn't much happening, but the other time, the food trucks had just been around and there was plenty of activity on the savannah. It pays to do it more than once, you never know what will be happening.

Do you have to be lodging at AK in order to go on the AM Safari?:dance3:

I believe that you not only have to be a guest of the AKL, but you also have to be staying concierge-level to do the Sunrise Safari.

ANY guest at the AKL/AKV can do the Sunset Safari, but that one is significantly more expensive since it includes dinner at Jiko. ($160 for concierge guests and $210 for non-concierge guests)

I am putting AKL/AKV CL on our list of must do. Our trip in November is to BWV. I wish I had known about the Sunrise/Sunset Safaris. Oh well. We'll be headed back in 2011. Maybe 2010 if we do a 100 point addon this year.
