Hi everyone!!

We can't wait to see the Fesitval of the Lion King show :simba: at AK. We'd like to see the first showing of the day so we can leave AK as soon as possible.

  • Does anyone know approximately what time the first showing is? :confused3

Someone mentioned to me around 9:40, but I wanted to see if there were different times for different days. I'm also guessing that the schedule is subject to change for December.

  • How early should we get to the show beforehand? :hyper:

  • Where are the best places to sit? We don't have kids, so sitting at a place where kids are most likely to be picked to come on stage isn't an issue.

  • Is photography allowed? Do I need to turn my flash off?

Thank you!! :thanks:

I'm not sure what time the first show of the day is, but I can help with some of your other questions.

We usually arrive anywhere from 5 - 10 minutes before the show starts, some times a little longer wait than that. This isn't because we planned it that way, it's just been the time we arrived there. They have an area outside where people line up and wait to go inside. It's a pretty big theatre, so seating has never been an issue when we were there. They don't really give you a choice of where you're going to sit, the CMs direct people, depending on which door you enter through you may be asked to seat in any of the four seating areas. Once the show starts each section is told what animal they are and they participate in the show by making animal sounds and hand gestures. I've never had a bad seat at the show, I've been both higher and lower.

It's a great show to see, it makes me tear up every time I see it. I'm such a huge fan of the Lion King movie as well as the Broadway play, that seeing the show at AK always makes me smile.

Have a great time!!

Thanks for helping!! Glad to hear that we don't need to get there WAY ahead of time.

So which door might you suggest we go in? Does it really matter? I'd like to get up close so I can take some pictures, if they allow it.

I LOVE Lion King too...such a great movie, so I'm dying to see the show! We've seen the Broadway play as well and that was absolutely phenominal!

I want to say the first show is at 9:45AM. I don't know for sure, but we were at the first show of the day back in March and I recall that time for some reason. I would get a times guide and head towards Camp Minnie Mickey when the park opens. Try and catch a few characters before the show.

we saw it adn LOVED it.....And My 2 Kids got PICKED to go Down!! HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP...We arrived 15 mins before and got seats Down front.....a MUST SEE.....

Looks like everyone has answered most of your questions. I just wanted to give you this website for showtimes:

http://pages.prodigy.net/stevesoares/

It's updated every week, and the Lion King show is included in the Animal Kingdom section. HTH!

Hope you enjoy the Lion King show... It's one of my favorites! :goodvibes

First, you will LOVE Festival of the Lion King, it is one of my favorite things at Disney, I swear, I would go to AK just see FOTLK.

2nd, yes, the 1st show is at 9:40am and then 10:40am, 11:40am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4:30pm. If you go to an early show 9:40 or 10:40am, you
could probably get there 5-10 mins before show time and be fine, most people run to Safari and Everst 1st thing, so FOTLK isnt very crowded in the morning.

Next, there really aren't any bad seats in the theatre, any section is a good section and then just try not to sit in the back rows.

I've seen the show probably a dozen times now and my favorite seats are on the aisles next to the big enterances where the floats come in. I love watching the performers up close...but really I've sat alot of different places and never thought I had a bad seat.

Hi,

I am not a huge show person but have to say that show is excellent. Not sure of the show times but seating and photos I can handle.

The are 4 sets of seats one on each wall, and are bleacher style. All are good, the closer to the floor the better though. We were in the Lion section last time. I know there is a warthog section, can't remember the rest though.

You can take pics but no flash shots as usual. I took these last trip and just set my camera to the lowest F stop I could and just took as many as possible in hopes of some good ones. For each good one, I have 3 to 5 bad I believe though so take a lot.

I am new to this forum but the set up is the same as the one at wdwmagic so I think these will attach, let's see...

OK, it won't let me post the pics as I am too new. Sorry.

OK, I have done more than 10 messages, I think it will work now.

These are shots from the show.

Thanks for posting those amazing pictures. I watched a clip of this show on the WDW website and I can't wait to see it live. It looks like a great show!

WOW!!! Thanks so much for all of the responses! :goodvibes I can't wait to see this show...it looks really great and I love the costumes!

The pictures posted are wonderful! I hope I can manage to get mine to come out that well. Very nice!!

Oh, and thanks to the person who posted the website with the show times. This is a really big help and I'm using it to plan out our days at the other parks too.

We try and sit in the Elephants section (directly opposite the main doors) since DW really thinks the actors that play the Tribal Leader (can't remeber his name) are cute

Cheers
Jason
